It amazes me how far LSU is...we're #9 lol
Utah is #10! And not even in the top 10 in the coaches poll
Meanwhile, Ohio State has struggled with an incredibly weak schedule....
Michigan State has look GOOD at times...not especially elite
Ole Miss does have the Bama win under their belt, but they struggled with Vandy last week
Who has Georgia played? UCLA barely beat a BYU team that Michigan mauled
The polls have no grasp on who's good and who's not, and the lack of flexibility is mind-numbing....we're literally having to wait for the polls to catch up with the results, and by the time they will, then the Playoff committee will start looking at the teams, making the polls irrelevant
People are already looking at projected playoffs, and most people's projections don't have Michigan State and Ohio State as the top 2 teams...you'd have to be on crack to think they're playing the best football right now

I guess they're on crack. LSU didn't exactly destroy Syracuse.... Michigan State is never going to look flashy, they just win.... You can't compare the BYU games vs UCLA and Michigan - the Cougars were due an emotional let down after their first 3 games... It will all play out. Go undefeated and you're in, lose once and you have a shot but you're at the mercy of the committee. No sense getting worked up in late September. I'll be honest, I definitely think Ohio State has looked beatable but they're getting closer. That poor Western Michigan team played out of their minds on Saturday, they just don't have the horses up front to sustain the intensity for 4 quarters.

Worth noting that the polls function in an entirely different manner than the committee. They are not required to get the same results.

Why does anyone care about the polls? My school is unbeaten and #25 at 4-0 and it just doesn't matter. I know if we go unbeaten or even 12-1 as SEC Champs we are going to be in the CFP. If we don't (most likely) then we won't. Simple as that - we will get what we deserve based on what we do on the field. The polls just don't matter at all and are not worth losing any sleep over.

I think if you had to write a report summing up college football for the month of September, LSU, Notre Dame, Utah, and Ole Miss are your star teams.... Will LSU finish that way? probably not...it gets dicey in November. But they've had an excellent start to the season, with Fournette looking spectacular. Notre Dame has looked pretty damn good with wins over Texas and Georgia Tech. I think they're better than either Ohio State or Michigan State right now... Utah beat Michigan, and put one of the biggest beatdowns of Oregon IN Autzen Stadium we've seen in awhile.... Ole Miss handled Alabama pretty well... Not a lot of teams can boast like these four can

They allowed 27 to Indiana!Did he have his team ready to go when it mattered though? This team still has more talent than just about anyone. In 2000 Miami the U played Louisanna Tech.....a bad Tech team and committed 5 turnovers only winning 42-31....they finished 2 that season....hiccups happen

My oldest daughter just turned nine...she's halfway to 18!

Honestly I think Ohio State will probably be playing excellent football at the end of the season. But that's what's stupid about the polls....they are reflecting past results from last year, name hype, expectations, "eye tests", "feelings" I'm not targeting JUST Ohio State....Baylor hasn't played anyone, TCU got a gift from the football gods in Lubbock, a lot of teams are getting the benefit of the doubt. Georgia hasn't played anyone yet....they will on Saturday.... Shouldn't the polls reflect who's playing the best football? To me, that's LSU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Utah undoubtedly at this point, rank them how you want.

I think that's what we're doing! I have duly noted that on September 29 you believe Utah, LSU, Notre Dame and Mississippi are playing the best football. Look at the top 4 from the committee when they released their first rankings last year - I think FSU was the only team to make it. There's a lot of football left to be played!!!

NO! They don't work that way... never have.
The COMMITTEE is supposed to work that way. When they start reporting. But, not the polls.
