I'm not sure about thier academkc status, but the state of Ohio....has enough high school talent by far to support two major programs, and I think UC would take off in a power 5 conference.....they started to in the Old Big East, and the conference could bolster its football standing....I know it's not an AAU school, and at the biggest Big Ten member would probably block the move.....but come'on it makes sense in every other way

The problem with UC and the Big Ten is Ohio State would never allow it to happen. Why give an in state school who you probably recruit against for regular students the same advantages that you have being in a better conference? Never happen in a million years. It's the same reason Dayton will most likely never get into the Big East conference for basketball - Xavier will never approve of them joining.

well, I think earlier last week, the Big 10 declared them a suitable "P5" opponent for scheduling...them, UConn, BYU and the academies....
there's about 10-15 "G5"/midmajor/non-BCS programs that fit right in with the P5 conferences...
BYU UConn Cincinnati UCF East Carolina Houston Boise State Colorado State San Diego State
The problem with Cincinnati is that they really don't fit in well the surrounding conferences...the B1G is after markets now. That's what Maryland and Rutgers was about...They want east coast or Texas, and you have to be academically viable. They sort of blew it by not grabbing Mizzou and Texas A&M when they had the chance...both schools are AAU
I think both the B1G and the SEC desire some of the ACC schools: North Carolina(B1G), Virginia (B1G), Virginia Tech (SEC), North Carolina State (SEC)
The ACC doesn't really need Cincinnati...they need content more than anything.
That leaves the Big XII, and they do things screwy
Were I the Big XII commish, I'd be pushing for BYU, Boise State, East Carolina, and Cincinnati. I'd break up the conference into East-West with Texas and Oklahoma as anchors
West Texas Texas Tech BYU Boise State Kansas Kansas State Iowa State
East TCU Baylor Oklahoma Oklahoma State West Virginia East Carolina Cincinnati

We got plenty of beating in-conference. It doesn't matter WHO to me..
I seriously don't think there is ANY WAY to design a conference setup that is more vile, patently unfair, and insane than the current SEC, B1G 14-team setups. I cannot believe fans allow this. It's NUTS!
I want NO PART of it.

what about being in the ACC for all sports except football? sort of like Notre Dame? There's actually a lot of speculation about if Texas would make a move like this. They don't seem to desire going to the B1G, PAC 12, or SEC I actually post more realignment stuff on another board, but the next big expansion event will be when the B1G TV network gets a new contract (next spring I believe). Many people think the $$$ is going to skyrocket, possibly even surpassing the SEC If that happens.....you're going to see A LOT of pressure on Oklahoma and FSU, two schools that feel they deserve the big bucks. If Oklahoma starts shopping around for another conference, who knows what Texas will do....one theory is that they may end up in the ACC with an ND-type deal

I've heard that Texas to the ACC rumor as well.
The Big 12's survival is up to Texas and Oklahoma...as long as they stay, there will be a Big 12. If either of them goes then the conference is done. My guess is the Big 12 won't last past the current Grant Of Rights. We will eventually be down to a P4.

The Big Ten was actually reportedly doing it's homework on Oklahoma and Kansas....and may give them an invite if...it feels it can pry them away
