Do you feel better about yourself having gotten that off of your chest? I feel a little better but not satisfied. I still want CF to have something to do with 'college; But it does.

Exactly there , GG. Let us not be fooled into thinking that we are watching 'college' football on Monday night. It's more like semi-pro FB. The VAST, over-whelming majority of players in the FBS will NEVER play NFL football. That is a fact. Even in the two championship teams playing on Monday, a majority of these players will never play in an NFL game. The "college part", still matters.... For the ones who are smart enough to take advantage of it. But to win consistently, Bevo, you cannot have too many of those "smart enough" type kids on your roster....agree or disagree ? Unfortunately, stockpiling dumbth is the winning formula. Most CF fans worship dumbth and don't care if their teams' star players can't read a 4th grade book. You told me once that you don't care. I care. I think intercollegiate sports should be played by kids that would be real college students regardless of their athletic skills. That's why I think a full fledged NFL minor league system solves the bulk of the academic fraud problems in the sport

I have noticed when Bama plays Vandy (the only time I watch Vanderbilt)the tide players major in some sports medicine or social studies course while Vandy players major in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or some type of Medical field. It doesn't take much to figure out why Vandy is at the bottom of the SEC. Ehhhh, not really so anymore, redwood. Vandy has gone SEC mainstream in recent decades....suiting up academic/cerebral marginals.

But to win consistently, Bevo, you cannot have too many of those "smart enough" type kids on your roster....agree or disagree ? Hen, I agree that, to WIN at the highest level, a team needs to have as MANY kids who are destined to play in the NFL as possible. NO team will be successful if their goal is to get as many Graduates as they can. The difference between you and I is, I DON'T think this is a "Bad" thing. Most CF fans worship dumbth and don't care if their teams' star players can't read a 4th grade book. You told me once that you don't care. I care. I think, the KEY word here is "star". I could NOT care less if D'Ontae Foreman could read a 4th grade book. I can (could ) solve differential equations. Yet, Foreman will likely be GUARANTEED more money in his FIRST year than I made in my first 10 years of employment. If he has ANY success, at all.... he'll make more money in 4 years that I will make in a 45 year career. So, I ask you... WHO's priorities are wrong? Mine? (His) or yours? These guys has an opportunity to earn an INCREDIBLE amount of money. 4th grade reading is NOT required... 4.3 40's, or else, benching 400+lns IS required. I think, these guys FOCUS on what THEY thing is, MOST important... to them.

I think, the KEY word here is "star". The 98% of the OTHER players on the UT roster, I DO care whether they are keeping up with their academics... because, for THEM? Academics will determine their success in life, not their athletic ability. I do want Texas to support the academic achievements of most of the team... and that, is a GOOD reason for NOT playing a 4-5 week playoff.

I know after many years of being the only CF program in America that refused to share academic majors for players Bama did finally release a token 'team' report to Bleacher Report, in 2015. Still no majors listed for individual players like all other CF programs do. I have no proof but I'd be willing to wager that at least half of Bama's starters are hidden away and clustered in the 'Exercise' major. I'm goin to check in on Clemson. Here they are by individual player:
www.tigernet.com/Clemson-Football-Roster
Many are majoring in PRTM.
Parks, Recreation and Tourism Mgt.
PRTM and 'Undeclared" seem to be Clemson's cluster hideaway majors. Back in Mike Vick's day something called 'Apparel Resource Management" is what Frank Beamer hid most of his dummies in. I know bunches of Tech grads around here and none of them ever heard of it..just laughed. One Clemson starter sounds like a real college student....sophomore Hunter Renfro from Myrtle Beach majoring in General Enginering. Kudos to that kid and Dabo for letting him play.

Hey I agree with you about the opportunities to make mega $ and that's why I favor an NFL full , multi-tiered, minor league system. Kids can pursue that career and $ WITHOUT having to be fraudulently disguised as college students. You don't need to attend college to make big money, running, jumping, throwing, catching, tackling, blocking and kicking. An NFL minor league solves the need for academic fraud and gives the prospect a 'choice'...just like the MLB choice system . Choice is a good thing , is it not ?

that's why I favor an NFL full , multi-tiered, minor league system. So... you would prefer that College Football be an meaningless, and unwatched as college baseball? great. Well.. you are consistent in your disdain for college football. I have to wonder how and why you ever found a home at "NationalChamps.net"... Well... no, on second thought.... I think I can guess.
