that's why I favor an NFL full , multi-tiered, minor league system. So... you would prefer that College Football be an meaningless, and unwatched as college baseball? great. Well.. you are consistent in your disdain for college football. I have to wonder how and why you ever found a home at "NationalChamps.net"... Well... no, on second thought.... I think I can guess. You are shamelessly making stuff up as you go along. BH has never even remotely implied that he would prefer college football to be as "meaningless and unwatched as college baseball "? To the contrary, he was giddy with excitement over JMU's real FCS NCAA national championship and the performances of FBS teams from the State of Virginia in recent bowl games. Nothing he has ever said would lead you to conclude that he has disdain for college football. To the contrary, he has demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that he is a college football enthusiast. He just happens to prefer NFL football because no team is excluded from an opportunity to compete for the Super Bowl championship. However, he has understandably exhibited disdain for the continuing efforts of the "P5" conferences to block an inclusive NCAA playoff for FBS, and to prevent any reasonable opportunity for an FBS team from outside of the cartel to compete in any past or current post-season playoff system.

I'm way more of a college football fan than you'll ever be, Bevo. That's probably true, Hen. Which is why, I don't understand why you would want a semi-pro football league that would steal away the best talent, and most of the attention away from the game. I enjoy watching college baseball. I suspect you do too. But, we're the VERY SMALL minority. Semi-Pro baseball draws more fans, more money, because it offers a better product. If football started doing the same thing? I believe the same thing would happen. The money and attention would shift. College football, at the FBS level would be DEVASTATED. I have a hard time understanding why a "Fan" of this game would WANT that.

BH has never even remotely implied that he would prefer college football to be as "meaningless and unwatched as college baseball "? THAT would be the result if all the top talent in FBS football were to move to a semi-pro league. He just happens to prefer NFL football because no team is excluded from an opportunity to compete for the Super Bowl championship. I don't think I've EVER heard Hen say he prefers the NFL to college football??? And you're accusing ME of "making stuff up"?

Just like you knew BH's true intent of the original post in this thread. We would all be better off if we were just more direct. Most fans favor a system / environment that would selfishly be better for OUR OWN schools / teams. You guys are shocked why a fan of Texas and Alabama would have a different view on these topics than a fan of Delaware and Marshall?

CF would not be devastated at all if kids, not suitable for post secondary education, had an alternate path to pursuing their pro football dreams. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference, Bevo, between a 4.4 forty 'Excercise" major and a 4.6 forty Math major....except in player interviews. What exactly is this "semi-pro" Baseball you are referring to and comparing to college Baseball

You guys are shocked why a fan of Texas and Alabama would have a different view on these topics than a fan of Delaware and Marshall? That's a factor, GG. Fans with an orientation to and experience with NCAA championship Division schools can think outside of the mythical box. Some fans, whose only experience is tied to their Exhibition division team histories have great trouble thinking outside the 'mythical' box. As a Delaware fan I feel a bit more open minded than some 'stuck in the mythical tradition' fans simply because Delaware Blue Hen history involves both real AND pretend national titles. Delaware won 4 or 5 of those Alabama , Florida or Texas Voted-OPINIONATED style mythical national titles and since the 1970s when the NCAA began actual 'on field' college football championships UD has won two of those. I've experienced both and I know which are more legitimate and more difficult to achieve....or at least that's my reasonably 'informed' opinion. We call have opinions but my alma mater is the only one among all of ours to have competed for and win both opinionated and actual competition based championships. You guys should listen to this wise old geezer.

What exactly is this "semi-pro" Baseball you are referring to and comparing to college Baseball Minor leagues, Hen. We have BOTH here in Louisville: AAA Baseball and college baseball. Although, Louisville has a pretty good college baseball team, they get NO WHERE NEAR the press coverage, or attendance that the AAA Bats team gets. Minor league baseball WINS.. easily, over college baseball.

After my father retired from teaching, he went to work for the Charlotte Knights doing corporate outings / cookouts.

It is full professional Baseball. You better stick to Longhorn football. ...and attendance and press coverage for baseball is completely irrelevant to the issue we started discussing..... cerebrally and academically challenged kids having an alternate path to an NFL career other than having to be fake college students.

Oh please Hen... I've heard minor league baseball referred to as "semi-pro" all my life. You're really going to attack on semantics? Whatever.
Attendance and press coverage drive revenue... These things may be irrelevant at Delaware. But, they're pretty darn important at Texas. I am aware of NO requirement that NFL players first attend college. There ARE other pathways available.
