Till we find out who the new National Champ will be. Can ANYONE stop the man-machine named Saban??
These two teams seem to be VERY evenly matched. Clemson's offense is better. Bama's defense is better. I predict: Special Teams will decide the winner.
That might be bad news for Clemson.
I have a feeling we're all going to be staying up very last next Monday!

I have a feeling we're all going to be staying up very last next Monday! I think it's Clemson's time...this is their opportunity to put an L on Bama and get a championship I don't like Alabama's O vs. the Clemson D, especially after last week's performance vs. Urban Meyer and the Ohio State offense....and ESPECIALLY changing up coordinators.... Either Bama rides a championship defense to another title, or Clemson is able to flip the script and make the Bama offense go 3 and out We also have the NFL playoffs starting this weekend though

It is what it is, Hen. The winner will be known by all as the National Champion. It will go in the record books, and the NCAA will post it as such on their web site. All the FBS teams know what has to be done to get there. Only two have been able to accomplish it. Your disdain aside, one team and fan base will be VERY happy on Monday night.

Your disdain aside, one team and fan base will be VERY happy on Monday night. I'll be watching because I love a good college football game. I will also be watching the FCS championship game on Saturday, which will determine a real NCAA national champion. However, while the NCAA lists "national champions" in polls and rigged supposed playoff systems, none are acknowledged as the NCAA national champion. That distinction sets FBS football aside from all other NCAA sports in all divisions. Suppose that the G5 conferences proceeded with the goofy idea of a playoff among G5 conferences teams, with the winner receiving a trophy that said "FBS National Champion". Suppose that the NCAA listed the G5 champion as the national champion. Would that make it so?

Bevo, well of course the NCAA will list the winner of this post season event ....just like it lists the winner of the famous Idaho Potato championship for the post season and all the assorted all star games and exhibition games. The governing body of the sport , on its web site or in its record books will NEVER list the winner of this event as NCAA D1 national champion...because its not. Yes, "it is what it is"...a post season invitational-exhibition event. I have numerous NCAA football record books which they don't publish anymore. In the 'Championships' chapters of those books only D1AA, DII, and DIII championship histories are given. In the 'Bowl and All Star Game ' section you find the mythical and exhibition stuff. It is what it is for sure.

The team that wins on Monday will be recognized at the National Champion. They'll be recognized as such by all the other teams that compete in this division. That's all that matters.

You have no earthly idea what all of the other FBS teams believe.

You have no earthly idea what all of the other FBS teams believe. Sure I do. They tell us all the time. Especially, with their choice of division.

Try as you might, neither you nor Hen can suck the joy from what's coming. A new National Champion will be crowned.

Not trying to suck the joy from it. I will be watching, and am anticipating a good game.
But, I am grounded in reality. The reality is that JMU is and will forever be the one and only 2016-17 season NCAA D-I national football champion.
Either Clemson or Alabama will soon be the 2016-17 CFP champion, which is a noteworthy achievement.
