Well they did fumble because the QB was hit due to a missed blocking assignment, they were sacked on second and 12 due to poor offensive blocking, they were guilty of a hold which pushed them back even more and they returned a ball out of the endzone when they could have started their final drive at the 25. All mental issues cause by the stress of blowing a 25 point lead. I consider that choking. But still, if the run 3 more run plays (the 3rd and 1 I referenced above and the 2nd and 3rd down plays on their second to last possession) they'd be Super Bowl champs - at the least, the coach calling the plays spit the bit screwed the pooch, pissed down his leg or....choked. NE didn't overcome the 25-point lead until there were only a few seconds to go in regulation.

Kyle Shanahan CHOKED!
1st down at the 22 yd line, with 4:00 minutes remaining, and an 8 point lead?? NO WAY you do anything other than run the ball three times. Yards GAINED do NOT MATTER. You need to take time and time outs away your opponent, and take a 2 score lead. . Matt Ryan actually had time to throw the ball away.... he didn't. But, he should never have been in that position
I agree 100% Atlanta moves the ball down the field methodically, and then chokes under pressure with 4 minutes to go and an 8-point lead? Lol. Ever hear of poor play calling and execution?

"poor play calling".... ? It's a brain cramp... brain fart.... choke... whatever you want to call it.
It's also inexcusable. San Fran should withdraw their offer for HC.

So, I'm going to walk through this one more time. To choke a game away is a process. When Atlanta fumbled on the 3rd and 1 pass play with about 8 minutes to play, everyone at our party said - they're going to choke this game away. Choke is buckling under to the pressure. They had a 25 point lead and with the TD after the fumble - it was 8 points. They had to be thinking in the back of their minds - we're 8 points away from blowing a 25 point lead in the Super Bowl - it's a ton of pressure. You try to make 5 plays instead of 1. Then you add in the ridiculous calls by the OC on their second to last possession and yes, they choked. They allowed a sack, they held, they ran about 20 seconds off the clock - their decision making was greatly flawed because they weren't thinking within the moment. I can't explain it any better.

I can't define that as chocking is because the same could be said of NE in the first half. Poor play calling, poor execution, combined with bad breaks. NE made the necessary adjustments in the second half, and was the beneficiary of good breaks. Julian Edelman's incredible catch looks like a good call and a perfectly executed play in the box score.

Might be the all time "WHAT IF" Super Bowl.......if this or that hadn't happened
