"Alt Right Winger" hasn't caught on. Only a few wackos seem to even care what it means.

It's a little different today with an incredible force of media information available at your fingertips we truly are living INFO Wars.... The biggest differences from a half century ago are the advent of talk radio, Fox News, the Internet and late night comics. Talk radio and Fox News primarily run counter to the mainstream liberal media orthodoxy, the Internet covers the entire ideological spectrum, and the late night comics are generally liberal. All of this adds up to diversity which didn't exist a half century ago. no...the INTERNET is the biggest difference now we have sort of an awakening in awareness going on now...it's bubbling under the surface, underneath all of this other bullshit.

All of this adds up to diversity which didn't exist a half century ago. About a year ago, CNBC started a special campaign, to honor their 25th year of being on TV. They asked viewers to nominate the Top 25 "Influential People" in the past 25 years.... people who were 'disrupters'... Who had the most influence in their field, and on society. I sent them a nomination that I think was clearly one of the Top 25: Rush Limbaugh. He truly changed the world of talk radio, and by consequence, the world of political thought. Naturally, Rush did not make the top 100 people on their nomination list. I seriously doubt I was the ONLY person who nominated him. But, there was ZERO chance they would ever acknowledge his impact. who's Rush Limbaugh and what's talk radio???

Traditional news outlets are still accurate and use due diligence in reporting. ( CBS, NBC, ABC, NPR). The stories they run are sourced, accurate, and factually correct. FOX, MSNBC are "yellow journalism" organizations. They report ONLY the facts that represent their "side" and ignore those that refute or put their position in a unfavorable light. EVERYTHING from social media sites is suspect and almost completey "fake news". Factually incorrect and often times complete fabrication and lies. You SHOULD research things for yourself. It will keep you from walking into a pizza shop with an AR-15 to "free Hillarys sex slaves", asking for a birth certificate from one president while ignoring another presidents illegal collusion with an enemy dictator. People are allowed to have different opinions on the facts. (For instance you can think Bhengazi is a " scandal" or a "tragedy" after reviewing the facts, but REVIEW THE DAMNED FACTS so you know the truth, not the fake news version.) What we can't allow is for people to have their own facts. President Trump, love him, hate him, or indifferent to him, sets a DANGEROUS principle with his constant stream of untruths and fabrications followed by " I'm the only one you can trust" statements scares the hell out of educated people. you are kidding right? the waters have been muddied pretty well now....I wouldn't trust any "national" news or major corporate news you were right....about 10 years ago. But that's over now, and we live in muddy waters of information It doesn't take much brain power though, to look through and see that the process of how we are electing these "leaders", Republican or Democrat...the process is majorly flawed. It's agendized and controlled and we are left with choosing between two turds. The people in power at the top of our social food chain don't want the system to change...drink your beer, watch your tv and stay stupid, and they will provide you with entertainment, food, and keep you free from the "terrorists"

who's Rush Limbaugh and what's talk radio??? He's the guy who STARTED the rebellion... 28 years ago. He saved AM radio... a dying medium, and, transformed it into a platform for conservative political thought. I will NEVER forget the first moment I heard him. It was a song parody, "environmental update theme".... Andy Williams singing "Born Free"... with the sound of chain saws and some guy yelling "TIMBER!!!" in the background. It was a radical change to hear this guy talk every day. I agree with you, the INTERNET has magnified the fragmentation of thought by a 1000X. Have been watching the documentary series on Netflix about the 1980's. They make the case (and, I agree) that our social fragmentation began with the introduction of cable television. Since that time, we no longer truly have a "shared culture".

Lol. Both sides are guilty. 3-5 million illegal aliens voted, Bowling Green massacre, Obama born outside of the U.S., Sweden on fire a couple of days ago, Hillary accepted gifts of over $50,000 in jewelry from the government of Brunei...

ALL sides are guilty... and, other sides are manufacturing fake news, sometimes just for the fun of it. Journalism is dead. Despite ALL OUR ACCESS to information, TRUTH is more elusive than ever.

Kelly admitted she misspoke about Bowling Green (she meant terrorists, not massacre).
We don't know definitely where Obama was born, as we have not seen any original, government-issued document proving such. We've seen computer abstracts of records represented to be original documents.
Trump never said there was a terrorist attack in Sweden, but the media ran with it anyway....kind of like Palin's "I can see Russia from my house"...the point was Sweden is a mess due to unchecked immigration, there's no denying that fact. Rapes of Swedish women by immigrants has skyrocketed.

Ironically, despite all of the whining, journalism is in far better shape today than it has been during most of American history.
The Founders were the staunchest defenders of freedom of the press. Yet, during Colonial times, news sources were almost always anonymous, and the reporters used pseudonyms. Following the Revolutionary War, the two major political parties, the Federalists and the Republicans, each controlled a network of newspapers. Truth was a rare commodity.
With few exceptions, such as the New York Herald, newspapers continued to be highly partisan throughout the 19th Century. By the turn of the 20th Century, newspapers were far more accomplished at muckraking than at reporting.
Newspapers continued to be highly partisan during the first half of the 20th Century, particularly so during FDR's three-plus terms.
It wasn't until the advent of television that the media began to take a turn toward serious journalistic practices. Nevertheless, the mainstream media has remained highly partisan.
Journalism today might be more balanced today than at any time in American history, thanks to opportunities for viewpoints that counter the mainstream media, including the Internet, talk radio and Fox News.
Anyone in America today who desires to know what is really going on in the world can find the truth if he wants to. That has not been the case during most of American history.

Anyone in America today who desires to know what is really going on in the world can find the truth if he wants to. That is just not true. Anyone can find "A" truth... any "truth" they want. But, it's damned hard to find "THE" truth. We do have opportunities to see things, more directly, than ever before. That helps. But, there are also far more tools available that allow "truth" to be manufactured, or revised. People can easily doctor photos and videos in ways that can fool experts... Lies are more prevalent, and more believable than ever before. It's a tough game... trying to tell fact from true.

I don't have a problem sorting through things. I doubt that you are easily duped either. And yet, we often don't agree on things that are supposed to be "facts".
