I was shopping with my son in the Brandon, FL Sam's Club in the mid-1980s, and we ran into George "The Animal" Steele. My son loved fake wrestling at the time, was dumbstruck. He stopped and talked with us for several minutes. It made quite an impression on my son to see him out of character. Super nice guy.

I don't remember "the Animal".... Sounds like a good dude.

I was a casual fan. Loved Wahoo McDaniel and Johnny Valentine... Watched it again when me sons were young... around the time of the "Ultimate Warrior" and Hulk Hogan,

A little obscure trivia. Terry Bolea, aka Hulk Hogan, was a star in another sport -- that was about as far from wrestling as one could imagine.

He and a friend won the 2-man youth bowling championship for the city of Tampa.
