Xavier ran 3 great plays to catch up and take the lead - got 2 three pointers and a perfect high low pass for the final 2. They also hit a couple freethrows. I think it was a 10-0 run at one point. The threes were obviously key - the execution was perfect.
I have to tell you, I've worked here for almost 18 years and obviously have had the opportunity to meet many people who followed Xavier basketball when the team was worse than horrible and played at the old Schmidt Fieldhouse. What's happening now was started back in the late 70's - they decided to focus on their basketball team and try to be relevant in that sport - it's almost 40 years in the making. Every move, all the way to the Big East, was carefully thought out and planned. And I think of those guys back in the late 70's - all in their 80's now, some of them have passed away - who had the vision that Xavier could field a competitive team in basketball. Nothing would make me happier than to see those visionaries experience one final four - they deserve it.
