Lessons learned: 1. Trump is not the master negotiator he would want us to believe. He failed miserably because the bill was deeply flawed. 2. A few conservative Republicans, standing firm on principle, saved us at least temporarily from a potential disaster. It isn't just about winning. It is about doing the right thing for America. 3. Trump's attempts at bullying conservative Republicans into voting for the bill failed. They were undeterred by his threats to field and campaign for candidates running against them, and by his threat to veto any future legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare. The emperor has no clothes. Umm, no.
It was RATS - Republicans (not conservatives) Against Trump.
The Uniparty created Obamacare and wants it to stay.
The Koch Brothers wing (House Freedom Caucus), and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce wing (Ryan/GOPe) voted against it.

That article, from the Trump-Hating WaPost is three months old. Since then, we actually had a plan released....and it was clearly NOT universal Health care. You really don't help your argument by repeating the same old falsehoods. As for Ivanka? Politically, that's a home run. That's how far the country has moved to the left. I don't really understand it though. I thought child care was already deductible? I know it was twenty years ago..... When I was sacrificing income to allow my wife to be HOME with our children. What's changed?

You just said that you don't want the federal government micromanaging anything! Yet, Trump wants to micromanage your health insurance, and you are all for it. Do you have a clue?

Have you seen Trump repudiate universal health care?

Failure to repeal this monstrosity leaves a gap of nearly 1-2 TRILLION dollars, and removes flexibility in proposed tax reforms.

Failure to repeal this monstrosity leaves a gap of nearly 1-2 TRILLION dollars, and removes flexibility in proposed tax reforms. Donald Trump lied to you. The American Health Care Act (H.R. 1628) would not have repealed Obamacare. It only would have amended it. Here are links to the summary and to the full text. See for yourself: Summary: www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/1628"American Health Care Act of 2017 This bill amends the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) to eliminate funding for the Prevention and Public Health Fund and increase funding for community health centers. For one year, certain federal funds may not be made available to states for payments to certain family planning providers (e.g., Planned Parenthood Federation of America)." Trump had always argued for repeal. I knew Trump was in trouble as soon as repeal became repeal and replace. Ryancare is nothing but ObamaCare light.
It does nothing to eliminate state boundaries for insurance sales, which is also why you cant afford homeowners insurance anymore and have high deductibles.

Lol. Trump threw his full support behind the AHCA! He lied to you. He lied to everyone. As you have seen, the AHCA had nothing at all to do with repealing Obamacare. He certainly doesn't appreciate it, but conservative House Republicans just saved his butt by preventing this disastrous bill from moving forward. "Donald J. Trump ✔@realdonaldtrump We are taking action to #RepealANDReplace #Obamacare! The worst part is that most of the opposition came from people who thought the bill was too conservative. Too many liberals, on both sides of the aisle.

The President rightly recognized that sometimes it’s better to walk away from a bad deal, and, for his trouble, there’s also a good chance that he can remove the obstructionist saboteur Paul Ryan from the board. Maybe put Gingrich or Ivanka in as speaker.
If Trump was truly “all in” he wouldn’t have been willing to walk away, and he wouldn’t have forced Ryan’s hand. Another brilliant move by Trump.
The Freedom Caucus wants the "perfect" bill, but real people want change NOW.
Remove state line restrictions and create tort reform. Those topics will create competition and let the free market take over.

Lol.
Trump didn't walk away from a bad deal. Read his tweet - he was all in, supporting a bad deal! The Freedom Caucus forced his hand. The Freedom Caucus saved Trump from a bad deal. He should be grateful.
Do you understand now that the AHCA would not have repealed Obamacare, even though Trump claimed that it would have?
The principle issue is simple: should the federal government micromanage the health insurance industry? Trump says yes. In fact, he advocates universal health care. I say no. What do you say?
There is a super simple free market solution that would ensure that everyone would have access to affordable health insurance: my plan.
My plan has two component parts. 1. Allow health insurers to create national group plans for individuals. 2. Make Medicaid available for everyone. Indigents don't have to pay for health insurance. High income earners and those with excellent company plans don't have a problem. But, there is a sizable universe of low to moderate income earners who don't qualify for Medicaid and who cannot afford to purchase health insurance. Allow these individuals and families the option to purchase Medicaid, with the monthly premium indexed to income. I haven't seen anyone propose this.

“They’re politically protected, but not anymore,” he said of pharmaceutical companies.
... Trump pointed to several interviews he gave during the campaign in which he promised to “not have people dying on the street.”
“It’s not going to be their plan,” he said of people covered under the current law. “It’ll be another plan. But they’ll be beautifully covered. I don’t want single-payer. What I do want is to be able to take care of people,” he said Saturday.

Trump should listen to me.
I have devised the perfect out. Everyone would have the option to be covered at an affordable cost. No bureaucracy. No federal health insurance plan. Free market. No individual mandates.
Simply index Medicaid to income. If the individual or household income is above the qualifying maximum for Medicaid, the person or family could buy into Medicaid.
Brilliant.
