Well, here we are.
Some are outraged over the rescinding of DACA. "Cruel" was the preferred, journo-list word of the day.
How did we get here?
Well, the US does not have an open border policy. In the past, we gave amnesty to over 6 million illegals. This was done to prevent illegals from being here and keep the rest of the illegals out. NAFTA was created to provide jobs in Mexico so that Mexican citizens would stay there and work.
Both failed miserably, as predicted.
Trump is the target of the outrage, but I would say this is misplaced. This anger should be redirected to ones that put these illegals in limbo, Obama ( who stroked a pen to this unconstitutional interpretation of the law - even his own attorneys, senators and representatives told him this was on very shaky legal ground) and a lazy Congress.
Obama himself said the no deportation protection was only temporary - hence the name DEFERRED Action for Childhood Arrivals.
Those outraged are running around screaming "fascism"; however, what Trump did is the exact opposite of fascism - ending an unconstitutional executive order and pushing it back to congress to enact legislation to clear up the mess. Democracy in action.

It's a mess alright. I give Congress less than 10% chance of getting even this right. R's are already lining up to tie it with tighter border enforcement. D's are saying they'll vote against it if it's linked with anything. As a country, we continue to do "stupid things" as a result of dysfunction.
In a post 9/11 world, control of our borders and immigration, IMO, is a national security issue, and I really wish those clowns in Washington would get serious about it. It's not "all or nothing"... Either you're a citizen, or you're OUT. There IS middle ground. But, we need to KNOW who is here. And, keep OUT those who shouldn't be. At least, we should TRY.

I was really disappointed that Bush didn't seize the initiative to secure our borders after 9/11.
He failed on that completely.

Agree.
But, there is plenty of blame to go around.

One of the many ingenious aspects of Trump’s policy on this issue was continuing the program so that Sessions and his people could get their teeth into it and have full access to the data - rather than trying to stop it on Day 1, only to have the Obama "sleepers" running the program ‘accidentally’ lose all the data.
