Peach Bowl-I don't think UCF is the real deal and look forward to what they can do against a good allbarn team. Gus has a new contract based on two good games and the barners are so happy they can't remember circulating petitions to can his butt about 5 weeks ago. I love those guys... Fiesta-I like Washington and they have a new OC. I hope the play calling will improve. They have a good team. Citrus Bowl-My two favorite teams are Alabama and whomever is playing notre dame.

No question that UCF’s offense is the real deal. No question that UCF’s defense leaks like a sieve. UCF was totally overlooked by every single expert in the pre-season projections.
UCF can be competitive if its defense steps up. If its defense plays like it did in the final two regular season games v. Memphis and USF, there won’t be much hope.

Here's a thought - maybe UCF's 6-7 record last year, or 0-12 the year before didn't lead to them getting "totally overlooked" by the experts in pre-season.

Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl definitely....agree on UCF and Washington being good teams I would add the Cotton Bowl with USC vs. Ohio State. Also, the Alamo Bowl matchup between TCU and Stanford looks like a great matchup

I think the DIII champ game next Saturday night will be quite interesting...........the Texas boys vs the Ohio boys ( Mary Hardin-Baylor vs Mt Union ). If the forecast holds up I think I'll go.

I realize that you are correct. Nevertheless, judging a current team based upon the records of previous teams is totally idiotic. I wonder why that standard didn’t apply to 1999 Marshall, which was 37-3 over the previous 3 seasons?

I wonder why that standard didn’t apply to 1999 Marshall, which was 37-3 over the previous 3 seasons? It's not idiotic... prior records are just one of many data points when evaluating a team for pre-season ranks. Is it foolproof? Of course not, but it's been reasonably accurate. No one pollster can make a perfect preseason poll, but the collection of many ballots cancels out the effect of small errors made by each one. Pre-season coaches polls have been about 55% accurate, while the AP has been around 59%.

In the words of CJH :"All 130 0-0 records should have exact equal value in pre-season"

In the words of CJH :"All 130 0-0 records should have exact equal value in pre-season" They do, but other data points help us put the teams in order. Then, with all the AP voters, small biases are largely cancelled out to form the consensus. The trend is your friend.
