I think Alabama 2018 has an opportunity to go wire to wire, something very few college teams have done. Wire to wire refers to a team staying at #1 in the AP Poll from start to finish.
The remaining schedule includes: vs. UL Lafeyette at Arkansas Missouri at Tennesee BYE at LSU Miss St The Citadel Auburn SEC Championship Semifinal Championship
They are 11 wins away from going Wire to Wire, and solidifying possibly the crowning achievement for Nick Saban at Alabama. This would be the crowning achievement for one of the strongest dynasties in college football.

Alabama has had quite possibly the greatest run since John Wooden's UCLA teans since the 60's and 70's. They've also done it without a trace of scandal. That said a couple things we have to remember before we annoint them. -The schedule so far has been very squishy...A&M was the first team they've pkayed with a pulse and they got them at home. I dont think it would have mattered as A&M likely would have received the same treatment at home, but some programs are for whatever reason Jeckyl and Hyde on Home\Road games. A&M looked very formidle at home vs Clemson.....may have been a closer game for the Aggies at home may not have been. Alabama's other group of 5 opponents have been Ole Miss who resembled Illinois in taking far to long to put away Kent State yesterday and Louisville whom, lost 27-3 to Virginia yesterday and may or may not go Bowling. -Georgia did slow down one of those quarterbacks last year for a half...goes back to who've they played.....they haven't faced truly great athletes yet.Doesnt mean they won't score at will when they do.....but lets slow down the greatest team ever talk until they do.

- Hammers next 4 games are against decent but so so competition.....they finish with a tough as he'll kicker though in three of their last 4......I think they can make the SEC Title game undefeated....and if they beat Georgia They'll be 1.....but by no means do I see that as a guarantee yet. If they win that they'll go to the Playoff and probably play either Clemson or Ohio State which have the athletes to score with them.....if not slow them down. The Buckeyes also have a dual threat QB in Tate Martelli who can scramble and throw as well..... Bama will probably win the title, but lets not anoint them yet!

I think your playoff is some combo of Bama, Clemson, OU, TX, UGA, or ND.
P12 and maybe B12 get left out.
Another thing to consider is if Notre Dame runs the table, but I think they’d need some help with only 12 data points and a relatively week slate overall. A conference title matters, so we are told....until it DOESN'T.
A 1-win Big 12 champ Texas would get in over a 1-loss non champ from the SEC. Texas would have a decent OOC schedule as well.

Quite possibly if counting only the FBS. North Dakota State has had an even more impressive 'run' winning 6 of the last 7 NCAA D1 Football championships.......and without the help of one single conference room vote.
96 -206 Mt Union would be my nominee for 2nd greatest CF 'run' winning 8 NCAA national titles in that period....and again no computers, voters , opinions, committees etc etc deciding anything. Winning post season playoff games is more difficult than winning beauty contest elections.

There are 4 elite teams right now: Bama, tOSU, Georgia and Clemson. All, with the possible exception of Bama, would have their hands full with UCF, IMO.

Bama has some unwanted news:
Saban says Diggs will be out for long time, maybe season.
Tua has sprained his knee.
