I know, and Sagarin said the SEC West champ would easily roll UCF last January by at least 2 TDs but something happened.....they played a game of football !!!!...on a football field !!!..not a computer.
Playing is better than voting AND computing.
None of these systems can yet get inside the heads of these 18-22 year-olds. Especially when one team was disappointed to be there and one team thought they were playing for a NC. Google may be getting close to being able to do this... Another GREAT chance for them to make $$$

Yes, but just because there are upsets, that doesn't mean the computer program is faulty. The 2 aren't mutually exclusive. As long as you acknowledge that the predictive accuracy of the best various systems lies between 73-77%, life is good. None of these systems can yet get inside the heads of these 18-22 year-olds. Especially when one team was disappointed to be there and one team thought they were playing for a NC. I don't buy that last explanation. Auburn tried but faced a better FB team.

Auburn tried but faced a better FB team. I don't agree with you. UCF won the game. But, they were not a "better team". The difference wasn't as huge a some uninformed might think... they were close enough that obvious differences in "motivation" made a difference. For the record, I loved it. Heart matters... in a single-elimination game. But, it doesn't make them a "better team". If they played 10 times, in neutral conditions? Auburn wins 9 times. But, that ONE... makes life interesting.

When a no name gets beaten badly by a hyped name its proof that the no name doesn't belong
When a no name dumps a hyped name it means the hyped name wasn't really trying
I know how the perception system works, Bevo.

You seriously believe Auburn cared AT ALL about playing UCF? After what had just happened to them? If so... you don’t know much about kids playing college football. Understanding motivation is a key factor for me in picking games.

What qualifies you to know what the motivation was among those Auburn players, Bevo ?
Here's a quote from Kerryon Johnson, Auburn's star running back regarding the UCF game :
" To those who thought we weren't motivated, you're not in our locker room, you're not in our practices, you're not in our meeting rooms. Obviously they don't know what is going on"
BTW, Auburn pretty well ran over the rest of the SEC West but vs UCF (which doesn't belong) Auburn had a 2 yards per rushing attempt average ( 90 yds on 44 attempts)
2017 UCF could flat out PLAY. It just didn't 'sound' like it could play to those oriented to the perception/mythical system.

50+ years of watching college football qualifies me. I’ve seen that movie before.... over and over.
I’m sure the Auburn kids truly wanted to win. But, fear of losing is not as strong a motivator as riding a wave of winning to a National Championship.
UCF was a very talented team. A couple of them are already playing well in the NFL, But, they didn’t dominate that game.
Auburn gained more yards. Auburn had more first downs. Auburn possessed the ball more.
Auburn always led in Turnovers... 3-1 And, Auburn wasn’t ready for Milton’s running ability.
I was cheering for UCF. I wanted them to win. When I watched the game, I got the feeling that the Tigers couldn’t get out of their own way. When they did, they were able to push UCF around.

Being an Ohio State fan I've seen it many times; team has their hopes of playing in the NC or the Rose Bowl and sleep walks through a meaningless bowl game while the opponent is loaded for bear to beat a big name program. OSU lost to Air Force one year in the Liberty Bowl. Emotions are just different. UCF is ecstatic to be in the Peach Bowl with a chance to complete an undefeated season, Auburn is devastated to not be in the playoff. Factor in you're dealing with 18-22 year old males and good luck trying to figure out who's going to show up. But give UCF the schedule Auburn played under regular season conditions and I highly doubt they go undefeated. It's that simple.

Seen on Twitter:
The surest sign Dabo is becoming Saban - Clemson is beating its rival by 4 TDs, and he's still yelling and screaming at his players.

The SEC offense player of the year in the year...averaging 4.9 YPC gets 3.2 vs UCF... and Bevo fails to mention that Stidham was sacked ..what 6 times ? vs UCF. Any SEC opponents sack him that many times in a game ? Auburn flat out couldn't block those guys. Malzahn said that himself. ".no running lanes ".
And speaking of pro production the opening day NFL 53 man active rosters featured as many or more guys from UCF than exactly 1/2 of the hyped up teams that play in the so called P5 leagues. That's right ...32 , so called., power five teams had fewer or the same number of pros . Probably a shocking factoid to the perception driven types.
