This years Alabama football team has had some comparisons to the All Time Great 1995 Alabama team, and while some are already making that comparison I heard a good point brought up in the morning .....Can we let them play someone first? Alabama's schedule so far has included Louisville, Arkansas State, Texas A&M, Lousianna and Arkansas......this year there is a chance only one(A&M) or two(Ark State) of those teams will go bowling....and we still don't know alot about A&M. They looked decent against Clemson....but the Tigers have had there fair share of issues this season as well....Clemson may not be as good as we thought they were. To be fair Alabama has done what a great team should do to lesser competition, and Alabama is at the worst an elite team....but has the last taught us nothing? 2002 Miami surely didnt, neither did 2005 USC or 2015 Ohio State whom were all considered to be among the greatest teams ever during their respective seasons..... So can we let Alabama play LSU first before we annoint them the best ever? To be fair Alabama will be playingits toughest part of the schedule in the second half and finishes with a helluva kicker.
But if history teaches is anything, its that often when we annoint a team the best ever......they often don't win the national title that season

It is no doubt a five game season: @ LSU vs. Auburn SEC Championship Semifinals Natty
With that said, I don't see anyone playing at the level Alabama is playing at. And whether or not you like the Tide, you have to respect what Saban has done, and recognize that he could do something really special this year at Alabama. If Alabama goes wire to wire, I think this team will be the crowning achievement of Saban's teams and possibly be declared as one of the best ever. Alabama has won a lot of championships, and had a lot of really good teams, but they've been damn lucky as well, even getting some second chances despite not winning the SEC. Saban has only had 1 undefeated team at Alabama also...that was 2009, and they got damn lucky with the McCoy injury.
Saban has a chance to top himself this season, which is really amazing.
Edit-I corrected your statement...1995 Nebraska, not 1995 Alabama
Also...2015 Ohio State? huh? maybe you meant 2014 Ohio State. Is 2014 Ohio State one of the greatest teams ever? Meh...you lost to Virginia Tech, and nearly got left out of the playoffs!

The 2015 Buckeyes were the AP Polls first unanimous 1# ranked football team, and it was widely assumed they'd go back to back to start the season. The were getting greatest team hype ever before the season started in 2015. I'm also not disputing what Saban has done....but how many times are we going to do this? I mean 2002 Miami was the greatest team ever....until it wasn't, 2005 USC was greatest team ever until it wasn't. Let's let the season play out before we declare a team the greatest team ever.

Tua is one of the best QBs I have seen in a long time. Accurate and mobile enough to escape the rush. Quick decisions and doesn’t stare down receivers. The defense is a work in progress. Bama lost its top 6 defensive backs last year so growing pains are evident. The defense must get better by the end of the year to compete with Ohio State or Clemson. I don’t enjoy the hype but the sports media does this crap every year. The same talking points with the only variable being team names.

Everything is the 'latest greatest' in American, impulsive, instant gratification, short attention spanned 'pop' culture.....sports teams, players, coaches, pop music stars..everything. Just the way it is. Imo, the pop culture's sense of history and the historical 'big picture' is becoming more and more lost.

Remember on one of the music award shows when Kanye had Paul McCartney do a cameo...there were millions of kids on Twitter saying they had no idea who McCartney was but his music career "about to take off thanks to Kanye"
Ugh.

Saban is terrific but that' GOAT' stuff is a perfect example. There have only been 55 or so CF HCs that were more difficult to beat over their careers including 16 from the FBS level but they are easily forgotten.

Saban has an opportunity to really create a statement. It would be the crowning achievement of the Saban dynasty at Alabama. Great stuff!

I understand you have to be true to your school but this run is really something special. My thinking is with all the youth, next year may be better for this group.

Really, the key is someone has to be in the game in the 4th quarter. To date, Alabama hasn't really been tested, I think even the biggest Alabama fan will tell you they really haven't played anyone. Tua plays half the game, they score 60 points and win by 30,40 or 50. they need to be tested. When they're truly in a game you'll find out a lot more about this team. I have no reason to doubt they'll come through with flying colors but we need to see them in a game where they need to make plays in the 4th quarter.

More interesting days are ahead and it is true that Alabama has not been tested but Texas AM has lost only to Clemson by 2 and to Bama by 22 so they must be pretty good. That said, I hope the testing comes later rather than sooner. I honestly don't think the defense is ready for a serious test like Ohio State yet. Your QB looks like magic sometimes.

Just wait til the Citadel comes to town. That will be a test ( a test of scheduling integrity )
