I have heard that the Big Ten is once again looking at Texas and Oklahoma with a 5-6 year target time frame. They also want four four-team divisions with four team championship. Divisions:
Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Northwestern Michigan, MSU, Indiana, Purdue tOSU, PSU, Maryland, Rutgers
Three games against your division plus two games against teams in each of the other divisions. No word on permanent rivals, but I suspect Michigan-Ohio State would be protected in some waty.

Univ of Texas would be a nice fit, academically, for the BIG

My opinion only - I think, although Texas is the prize, the Big Ten would settle for Kansas and Oklahoma, or even just Oklahoma alone (if they could go to three five-team divisions and a four team championship - division winners plus the best remaining team).
A 15-team Big Ten "could" have the following divisions:
Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota Ohio State, Michigan, MSU, Northwestern, Illinois PSU, Maryland, Indiana, Rutgers, Purdue
This season, that would be a playoff of Oklahoma, Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan.

I don't think Texas and Oklahoma have any incentive to go to the Big 10. Texas is perfectly fine with their own TV network.
It would be foolish for Oklahoma to follow Nebraska's footsteps into Big 10 land. Also, what happens with Oklahoma State? What happens to the other Texas schools? The Big XII champ just jumped the Big 10 champ to go to the playoff.
I think all the league's are set pretty much how they are. I think the P5 conference that is hurting is the PAC 12. If they continue to decline (basically not keeping up with the other P5 conferences), then I think in around 10 years you'll see some big rumblings.

A partial list of place Texas would go BEFORE joining the B1G:
1). SEC 2). ACC 3) AAC 4). Independent 5) Peurto Rico 6). Bankruptcy court

Although Puerto Rico could be enticing

From 2008-2030, Auburn plays ONCE at Florida - 22 years and 1 away game against FLA
From 2008-2025, Alabama and UGA play each other just 3 times - 3 times in 17 years
That's supposed to be a conference?

The SEC's OOC schedule is annually 75% FBS and 25% FCS.....and 80+ % at home and the mythical system rewards it for that.

The SEC will expand again. A team with a brand like Texas would be great, absent that I expect a team from North Carolina and/or Ohio.
