For the life of me, I don't understand why Texas allows their practices to be filmed and shown on LHN.
Last night, I watched as coaches were sitting in a room evaluating players from practice:
"Oh, he was slow to pick up the blitz",
"He wasn't able to read the rolling zone coverage",
"He doesn't have the quickness to react to press coverage"
"He's just a straight line runner"...
All things I heard in last night's show. This was the first one I've seen this season.
I HOPE, they film some BS, counter-intelligence stuff to throw other teams off. But, I doubt it. I have said for years, since LHN started, it seems like other teams know EXACTLY what we're going to do.
On the flip side, I also watched the 1969 team playing against OU. That Sooner team was loaded... Jack Mildren, Steve Owens, etc... It was a great game. Chris Schenkel was doing the announcing.
I think this was the first time I've ever seen that 1969 team since I watched it live.
OU was dominating us in the first half, statistically, but the game was tied... thanks to a couple of long passes. But, we started to wear them down in the second half. Our defense was better than I remembered. And, Cotton Speyer was simply uncoverable... at least, not with single man coverage that he enjoyed all day. He was a lot bigger than I remembered.
THAT, I will watch on LHN and be happy for it. Player evaluations, I DON'T need to see.
