......first team ever from that State to win a LL championship. The LLWS is still one of my favorite sports events just like the CWS. Coming out of the loser's bracket and playing better and better every game to win it all is also a first. Also, the tall left fielder kid set a LLWS record with 17 hits ! Those were such nice kids based on the interviews and sportsmanship and so beautifully coached. They reminded me of those precise and disciplined Japanese championship teams of recent years.
....and no beauty contest bull$hit opinions involved in the whole championship process.....just pure championship elimination sport. ( you knew that was coming ). There is only one team sport left on Earth that doesn't 'get' this basic concept.
Anyway, those boys did the USA very proud !

The Cajuns must be partying tonight. Kids baseball is a HUGE thing down there. They LOVE it.
My son played in All-Stars three years in a row. He was so tiny, he NEVER could be struck out. And, he played a solid 2nd base.

The kid on Louisiana was a one boy wrecking crew - 15 hits?! But I have to say if it’s a double elimination tournament then Louisiana and Curaçao should have had to beat Hawaii and Japan twice, respectively. Every team got a bogey but them.

I can see that point, Doc. It's double elimination right up to the US and International finals than its one game for the championships.
I had the pleasure of coaching Dixie Youth Baseball ( both 8-10 and 11-2) for a few seasons. There is no Little League in this part of the Blue Ridge. Wonderful memories except my players all seem to have kids now playing youth sports as age reality sets in.

The town where we lived in Louisiana (Sulphur) had a special 1% city sales tax that was totally dedicated to kid's sports. They had year round programs for girls and boys... Football, Baseball, Basketball, wrestling, Golf, soccer, maybe others.. ?
And, it was ALL FREE to the kids.
Just amazing place for young children.

Very nice use of some tax $. There are worse things for kids to get into these days than sports. I've heard of a small tax like that in some locality or state for senior citizens needs...also worthwhile.

All we had to do when I played Little League (back in the Ice Age) was sell $25 worth of Little League decals (or have your parents buy them all!). I had a paper route so it was pretty easy to move $25 worth - if you sold a certain amount you got a windbreaker with your name on it - I think it was $100 worth. I was never motivated enough to get to that level - I only had 40 customers on my route so I could usually get to $50.

Reminded me that a paper route was my first job
