I'm all for getting rid of divisions in college football, I think they are outdated
conference champ games should be the next thing to be scrapped. That weekend could be the first round of a quarterfinal playoff round
Imagine instead of playing a conference championship game, have the champs for each conference selected and play each other
PAC12 vs. ACC or BIG 10 SEC vs. Big XII MW or AAC vs. Sun Belt\C-USA Top At-Large "Wildcard" vs. Big 10 or ACC
There is your 8 team playoff

Yes Evil ! - replace conference room beauty contest voting with actual on field quarter final playoff games. That would be a milestone start in making NCAA FBS football a 'championship' sport.

I think the AAC will get a temporary waiver with conditions. They will likely get a three year waiver, but it will be explicitly stated that it will not be extended; that gives them time to find a replacement team. However, and here is the probable deal breaker, The NCAA will require 9 conference games to get the waiver. That puts them on a more even keel with the Big 12 and likely prevents the ACC from seeking a similar deal. I don't think Navy will want to drop a non-conference game and that, in the end, the AAC will go divisionless, but without the CCG.

If you’re scared just say you’re scared. Say it, say I’M SCARED.

Well, I know if Cincinnati could join another conference they would in a millisec - they lobbied hard to get into the Big 12 but that didn't work. They're not going to get in the other conferences, they're kind of stuck. But I know they hate being in the AAC regardless of what they may say outwardly.

I could see the Big 12 adding Cincy and Houston at some point. Houston SHOULD Be in a P5 conference, somewhere.

I would be willing to bet several conferences are thinking about Cincy. TV market expansion.

Perhaps the ACC but there would have to be a second team. The are not an SEC school - doubt UK would approve. The Big 12 seems to make the most sense and I agree, Houston would be a perfect choice. But then there's Memphis, Central and South Florida - where is it best to spread their footprint. They all have large student populations and are in large metropolitan areas - in that regard Cincinnati may be the smallest.

But, I think it would be good to add Houston.
I suspect the #1 priority for the Big 12 would be to add a Florida team.

Like Florida State? And maybe Clemson as well? We'll have to see how good the ACC network does

Why should the B12 be scared of the SEC ??
These conferences have played 177 games, head to head, and the frightening SEC has won exactly 93 of them.....or 52%
Perceptions vs reality
