Comparing the US News college rankings.... Cincinnati - #147 UCLA - #19 Mississippi - #150 Memphis - Second Tier, over #230 Florida State - #70 Boise State - Second Tier, over #230 Missouri - #129 Wyoming - #183 Tennessee - #115 Georgia State - #187 Arizona - #106 Hawaii - #157 I know your point is that the little guy beat the football factory or possibly the 'smart' school beat the 'dummy' school but the majority of the kids on these teams do do it the right way, they are there to get an education. And if a kid could go to UCLA or UC, they're going to go to UCLA because it provides more opportunities.
A couple years ago Tennessee had a QB named Joshua Dobbs, he's now with the Steelers. Dobbs majored in Aerospace Engineering, had a 4.0 GPA and did many things within the community. I think there was honor to his college career.

I know your point is that the little guy beat the football factory or possibly the 'smart' school beat the 'dummy' school but the VAST majority of the kids on these teams do do it the right way, they are there to get an education.
Great post, Doc. I made one minor correction/improvement. A TINY % of these players are going to the NFL, and they ALL know it. Well... MOST know it.

UNC as a score of honor - after a decade of fraudulent curriculum geared towards athletes?

Very good points Doc, CPA and Bevo.
Remember the context of these fun SOH listings : THE CRITERIA CAN BE, admittedly, MADE UP AS IT GOES ALONG - EXACTLY LIKE THE MCFP COMMITTEE conducts the pretend NC. My randomly selective methodology is copied from the MCFP methodology for sure.
For example regarding the points :
Yes, UNC got caught in blatant academic fraud but the USCe scholly kids are no more legitimate college students or any SEC program's for that matter ( cept possibly VU). Most of 'em are fraudulently kept eligible to some degree. In this case I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to old guy/good guy, Mack Brown, that he might clean things up a bit and congrats for dumping another over hyped SEC team. Again, pick and choose criteria- just like the mythical championship system.
Doc's USN&WR ratings are very good and legitimate regarding the actual student bodies but football wise its the insignificant and irrelevant boys dumping the relevant and privileged boys ( using Bevo's standards of CF)
Vast majority of the scholly kids at the major factories are NOT legitimately doing it right , Bevo. No way. A small minority are. Cluster majors, making scheduling and supervision easier for the coaches, no fail phony eligibility courses and majors, unsupervised on line courses for credit, assorted tutors , counselors and handlers doing the harder work, academic credits for playing football, grade changing and a plethora of other schemes make big time , win-at-all-costs, , so called 'college' football very skeptical, academically speaking.
And Bevo, do you know that 1 out of every 8 NFL players never even attended a privileged, relevant FBS level CF school ? ( 2011 out of 1696 players ) That's 12%. Is 12% your tiny % ? 211 irrelevant players are enough to fully stock 4 entire NFL teams.
Also, I know you would have no remote clue about this fact but there 122 men enshrined in the pro football hall of fame that never played at any big time FBS level CF programs. That's 37% of ALL HOFers. Is that also the teeny tiny % of irrelevants ? In case you may never have heard of it but the Pro Football HOF in Canton, OH is where the greatest ever in the sport of football ( at least on Earth) are enshrined and I cant help but chuckle that 37% of the greatest ever are "irrelevant".

Yes Evil . I actually, at one time, had a little trump style fantasyland CF conference called the SAC ( Student Athletic Conference ) and kept standings. Does anybody remember that ? Membership was based on admission data from the NCAA on scholarship football players. There were 8 members that qualified :
Northwestern Stanford Vanderbilt Air Force Navy Army Duke Rice
I remember Tulane, BC , ND and GT being somewhat close but those 8 SAC programs definitely separated from the rest of major CF in terms of higher cerebral and academic standards for players.
UVA is one of our great public Universities along with UCLA and Michigan but like those other two it does suit up a good dose of dumb guys. Also, I don't have exact data but I think Vandy has morphed somewhat more toward typical SEC standards over the past 15-20 years.
