ESPN came out with a list of the top 150 teams ever in college football history. I think they have a show on it So here's a sneak peek... #2 USC 2004 #25 Oklahoma 2000 #51 Alabama 2011 #118 Ohio State 2014 very interesting interpretation here by ESPN

So 1973 Michigan is rated around #113 and the 1973 Ohio State is #132 I believe. They both were 10-0-1 and tied when they played in Ann Arbor, 10-10. Ohio State was selected to play in the Rose Bowl and blew out USC. The Buckeyes ended up #2 in the country behind Notre Dame. Both teams had great defenses, OSU gave up 69 points all season and 21 of those came against USC in the Rose Bowl. Both teams had eerily similar stats - And yet, ESPN found over 21 teams better than Ohio State even though all the polls and stats put OSU ahead of Michigan back in 1973. The bias ESPN has against Ohio State is as clear as the nose on the Wizard Of Oz’s face.

Ya, I thought Ohio State 2014 at 118 was kind of a slap in the face 2004 USC at #2 is absurd Yeah, the 2014 Buckeyes won the first national playoff with a back-up QB but they had 3 of the best players in the NFL today (Elliott, Thomas and Bosa) and a number of others who are also on NFL rosters (Bell, Hooker, Apple, Decker, Price, Hubbard, Vannett, Huerman, Elflein, Samuel, Lee, Johnston, Conley, Lattimore, Powell, McMillan and probably a few others). I know a few others played in the NFL like Bennett and Washington. It was a pretty amazing team.
Every starter on the 2002 team made an NFL roster, as well. The media made them out as huge underdogs but they physically beat the hell out of Miami.
Two other teams that were loaded were 1996 and 1998 but alas, they both lost to subpar Michigan teams - the curse of John Cooper!

No team got to within 18 points of the Trojans that year. Most dominant of all time. Neb in 1971 might be top 10 or so.

1888 Yale outscored its opponents 694-0 and should probably be #1 not # 94

They beat #2, #3 and #4...probably others but the final poll that year was Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado and Alabama and Nebraska beat all three.

I'd gladly put 2005 Texas up against ANY college team, EVER. ESPN was ready to coronate USC '05 as the best team ever. but now they have the cancelled 04 USC season as the best. Texas '05 would have beaten that team too

Why is Alabama 2011 so low? I would like to see ANY "all-time" team play this Bama defense
Could Nebraska '95 have run the option on this defense?

OSU lost to that Texas team in 2005, I was at the game - one of the best games I've ever seen. Texas scored the winning TD with about 2:30 left to play and tacked on a safety at the end - Longhorns won 25-22.The thing I remember most was the OSU tight end dropped a sure TD that he had 2 chances to catch. Justin Zwick was at QB at the time but Troy Smith finished the game. Anyway, here's a recap. Smith was coming off a suspension and didn't play very well, great game....

He actually had 3 chances to catch the ball - OSU would have been ahead 25-16 late in the third quarter and lost 25-22 (Texas got a safety on the last play of the game).

Whatever we needed, Vince Young would have delivered.
He was in the middle of a simply UNBEATABLE run.
