To me , this was the pivotal play of the game. Higgins was in front of the guy and in his field of vision for a good 10+ yards.
Instead of 1st and goal at the 9 with Clemson leading and in control, it's first and 10 back at the 40.

It will get easier, trust me. Now you can understand the emotions Buckeye fans went through following the game on December 28. Many plays go into a game but there's always that one (or 3 or 4) play - like a targeting call on a sack that would have been 4th and 10+ yards, or an over turned TD, or a roughing the punter call, or a receiver running the wrong route - that just gets stuck in your crawl. At the same time, don't let the opposing QB run for a 65 yard TD, or let the opposing QB throw 6 TD passes, or don't settle for FG's or don't give up a TD with about 10 seconds left to go in the half. I've moved on but there will always be those what if's...
BTW, receiver looked like Hines Ward on that play - he was the master of the blindside block - cost Bengals LB Keith Rivers his career and led to the blindside rule. In this day they'll call that more often than not for player safety.

I remember that play. I thought it was a bad call at the time. My opinion hasn't changed. I must admit, I don't know the specific language of the rule. But, Higgins was clearly IN FRONT of the guy he blocked.
I guess.. downfield blocking is no longer allowed?

It would have been a different game if Clemson goes up 24-7 here.

The pivotal play in my mind was when TLaw scored and blew kisses to the crowd
That made Coach O mad mad

I think it's some kind of karmic college football law, that no matter how good your team is, eventually your team will get railroaded by another team, probably a team you don't even expect
I'm still wondering how the hell Oklahoma beat FSU in 2000
Regardless, Clemson's biggest threats in 2019, namely Bama, LSU, and Ohio State, all lose major pieces, while Clemson returns their star QB. 2020 sets up extremely well for the Tigers in Orange
Clemson does have an interesting date at South Bend next year though
