Tough one here.
05 Texas had 5 NFL DBs
18 Clemson had some firepower and the DL to get pressure without blitzing 01 Miami would at least be able to win some matchups 13 FSU?
Others?
1945 Army, with Lamar Jackson as QB?

Nebraska in '95. Tommy Frazier would be a nightmare to stop and the Husker defense shut down a pretty hot air attack in Florida. Not saying the Gators were on LSU's level but that Husker team was one of the best I've ever seen. I personally think the 2019 Buckeyes would have given them a better game but that's water under the bridge...and I didn't say they'd beat them, just a better game.

NO ONE, anywhere... anyplace.. could beat 2005 VY.
Super Vince would do whatever needed to be done. And, our defense was pretty strong too.
This year's Texas team played LSU close... and, we're a LONG WAY from 2005 Texas.

If ANYONE could do it, which is itself debatable..., it would probably be Texas '05
Texas '05 had enough offense, and Vince Young was such a dynamic player, I think he could keep the Longhorns in valuable drives against a bend-but-don't-break LSU defense.
The LSU offense would tear up the Texas D of course....LSU would score 50 points.
But somehow, someway, Vince Young would get the ball back, down 50-44 with :54 seconds left. And the last play, 4th and 11 from the 12 yard line, he would waltz into the endzone.
Longhorns win, 51-50
......and somewhere far away, an older lady that used to be a USC cheerleader would start cheering!

2019 Clemson, up 17-7...IF....IF we had stuck with ETN who was gashing them for 7 yards per carry.

What is their legacy built on? What does everyone say?
"They had so many players selected in the NFL draft, blah blah blah"
so what? Just shows how talented you are, nothing more, nothing less. Certainly does not mean you are "The Best Ever"
Who did Miami 2001 play worthy of anything? FSU was down that year VT last Vick after 2000. I think the QB was Noel Graham?? They hammered an overrated Nebraska team that didn't even belong in the championship. The other two possible contenders? 2-loss Colorado and Joey Harrington Oregon
Not only did Miami have a lot of talent that year that went to the NFL, but apparently no one else had Jack Squat. There were 0 other elite teams that year. ZERO
In 2002, you had real competition come along. Not only did Ohio State make it, but Georgia was waiting in the wings.
What happened? Miami '02 lost to freakin Craig Krenzel
Craig Krenzel....
I close my case

OSU lost to that Texas team 25-22 and led until the final 2+ minutes of the game. They played half the game with Justin Zwick at QB because Troy Smith had been disciplined for illegal benefits. In the 3rd quarter tight end Ryan Hamby dropped a sure TD that would have extended the Buckeye lead. I attended the game and it was one of the best I've seen in Ohio Stadium. As mentioned above, VY was a one man team throwing and running for close to 350 yards. I would have loved to see the Bucks play that game with a seasoned Troy Smith but it wasn't to be.
I do think the '95 Nebraska team would be an interesting match-up for any team in college football history. They averaged 53 points a game, gave up 14 a game(39 point margin), the closest any team came to them was 14 points and they won the NC game - ironically enough - by 39 points.

Maybe this Nebraska Cornhusker offense can truly be seen as the best offense of the Option offense era.
I just don't think this offensive style translates well to the next 25 years of football. Miami and FSU defenses already gave Nebraska fits. FSU beat them 3-4 times I think, and Miami a few times too, before Osbourne recruited some speedy Florida skill players.
And what happened to defenses over the last 25 years? They got faster and bigger. Saban brought some heavy defensive power to the SEC, and pretty soon, Alabama was spitting out stonewall defenses.
I tend to think Alabama's 2011 defense would have shut down the Nebraska 1995 option attack. Stone cold shut them down.
But this is about LSU 2019 vs. Nebraska 1995
LSU's defense isn't some juggernaut, but there is speed and talent, and I certainly don't think they'd get steamrolled. They would give up points, but make plays, like they do against everyone.
Of course, LSU's passing attack is a little more fast and efficient than the Florida pass-happy team of 1995. LSU has a much better QB as well.
Sorry, the blackshirts get butchered.
Tommie Frazier starts out strong, and drives the field for a few TDs. Defense plays well.
Nebraska up 14-0
LSU cranks out a stop, and then out of nowhere Burrow throws a 64 yard TD
Nebraska continues to have offense success, but suddenly is losing yards to LSU in chunks
24-21 Nebraska at half time.
LSU scores quickly two times to start the third, going up 35-21.
Nebraska drives the field but can only come up with a field goal.
Hellaire breaks a run and goes all the way. The rout is on...Once Nebraska start seeing that even with offensive success, they are still losing the battle on the scoreboard, Tom Osbourne starts trying to pass the ball....
Final score: 49-34

Literally, 2018 Clemson and 2005 Texas are the only teams I can think of that would challenge LSU 2019

Yes... they would get yards. But, eventually, Frazier would have been knocked OUT of the game. That's why the Triple option died. Defenses figured out: Forget the options, POUND the QB. The RPO of today gives the QB a better chance to save himself. Evolution in progress.
