I've always been a fan of Kobe's..... He's been a GOOD family man, who was accused of a terrible rape. At great personal risk, he FOUGHT the RAPE allegation. He won... in large part because the woman that accused him had the semen of 4 other men on her panties. Maybe, he had sex with her?? ... but, it's highly doubtful he raped her. I try, not to judge. Especially against young, virulent BB players who spend a LOT of time of the road.
Kobe was a GREAT BB player. I Attended, at great personal loss, his last game in Houston. One of my greatest regrets in life.. That's a longer story.

Our son is a huge Kobe fan. For Christmas one year he asked for tickets to see the Lakers play the Pacers - closest NBA team to where we live. So we got him tickets - he was so excited. Well the game before the Indiana game Kobe severely sprained his ankle and only played about 10 minutes in the game. To his credit he did try, he knew people in Indy bought tickets to see him play. Khawai Leonard would sat out in a heart beat. I felt bad for our son but at least he got to see him play....

ABC News reported that ALL of Kobe's four daughters were in the helicopter with him. They had to retract and apologize about 30 minutes later.
I can't think of anything worse for a "news" agency to do than that. I hope that reporter is out of a job today. But, I doubt he is.

"suspended", not fired... ABC is gutless
"Early Wednesday evening, ABC News announced that chief national correspondent Matt Gutman would be suspended an undisclosed period of time for falsely stating during a Sunday afternoon ABC News Special Report that all four of the late Kobe Bryant’s daughters were on the helicopter that crashed in Calabasas, California, killing all nine passengers. "suspended", not fired... ABC is gutless "Early Wednesday evening, ABC News announced that chief national correspondent Matt Gutman would be suspended an undisclosed period of time for falsely stating during a Sunday afternoon ABC News Special Report that all four of the late Kobe Bryant’s daughters were on the helicopter that crashed in Calabasas, California, killing all nine passengers. " I remember when President Reagan and James Brady were shot and Frank Reynolds reported that Brady had died in the shooting - when he learned it wasn't confirmed he had a melt down on air. In a cruel twist of fate, Reynolds died about 2 years later from a blood cancer and Brady lived another 30+ years. Here's an excerpt from Reynolds' obit... ...Mr. Reynolds won the George Foster Peabody Award for excellence in broadcast journalism in 1979. Known as a solid, unemotional on-air reporter, Mr. Reynolds let his guard down in one incident after the attempted assassination of President Reagan in 1981. In the confusion over whether or not James Brady, the President's press secretary, had been killed, Mr. Reynolds turned off camera and remarked angrily: ''Let's try to nail this down.''
