Never again will I pick Gonzaga to win the NCAA tournament. Their conference does not prepare them for the various styles they're going to face throughout 6 NCAA games. I know they've made it to the final twice but I just don't see them getting over the hump. And PLEASE - SOMEONE BEAT DUKE!!!! My favorite team over the weekend is Arkansas.

They were losing by 4 when I wrote that.
Now, St Peters is the FIRST 15 seed to reach the Elite 8.
This team plays good ball.

St. Peter's is a good example for those of us who support an inclusive football playoff. Here is a small school (3K+ enrollment), with not a large athletic budget, not a lot of high dollar facilities, not a large fan base, not in even a mid level conference, not bringing in millions, a team not given a chance "cause they don't play anybody", not getting millions in tv money, with no 5- or 4-star or one & done players, beating premier league teams, making it to the Elite 8. Kind of flies in the face of the argument that the G5 teams wouldn't stand a chance in a full football playoff and lower seeded teams would be destroyed by the P5 top teams, considering that 3 of the Elite 8 are seeded 8 or lower, and that is just in the region. If they were seeded 1 to 68, there would be a majority of double digit seeds. And loving the madness. In this season of no super team, St. Peter's may win it all. They have a chance. But I hope my Tar Heels end the story.

Kind of flies in the face of the argument that the G5 teams wouldn't stand a chance in a full football playoff and lower seeded teams would be destroyed by the P5 top teams, Actually, I don't think it does at all, for several reasons: 1) Basketball teams have FIVE starters. Maybe 8 or 9 players play? Football teams have 22 starters, and another 20-30 players that might play in a game. It's much harder for underfunded teams to have success in football than it is in basketball. 2) How long has the NCAA been playing these huge tournament field in Bball? Like, 35+ years?? And this is the FIRST time a 15th seed has advanced to the Final 8? Seems to me, it's pretty damned HARD for such a small school to make it. 149+ 15th seeds have failed before ONE survived... to the Top 8! I would never say that smaller football schools could NEVER win against the power schools. It's just highly unlikely. And, frankly.. it's not FAIR to force them all to participate in a post-season where their chances of success are so incredibly low. The problem with football, once again is: It takes TOO LONG to play a large field tournament. And, with such a limited field, none of the power 5 conferences want to give up a spot to a supremely talented 2nd place team to a G5 school that skated through the season playing weak opponents.

True, basketball is not football, and that St. Peter's is the 1st 15 seed to make it this far, it is not the 1st "small" school to do it. Gonzaga, now a national power (even if they did not got as far as predicted) is the same type school as St. Peter's and has made 2 Final Fours. As did Butler, before they were in the Big East, as did Loyola and George Mason. And other lower seeded "small" schools have advanced to at least the Elite 8. Have they won it yet, no, but they get the chance and can dream and recruit they can. That is all G5 supporters are asking for, a chance. I am not advocation a 68 or 32 team tournament, but I do support a 16 team one, with auto bids to the 10 Conference champs and 6 at large. Could they win, who knows. Probably not, but could shake some things up, maybe even advancing to the Final Four by upsetting on of the media's favorites. It would be fun.

I appreciate your position. I just disagree.
I’d rather have NO playoff at all than spend a month watching a bloated playoff with slaughters and key injuries.

I think someone wants to see Coach K's face in the finals.

Once again, all elite programs in the Final 4.
