Win and your in Ohio State, Penn State, ttun Clemson Alabama, UGA, Tenn TCU
Win and its looking good Illinois Ole Miss, LSU Okie St USC, UCLA, Oregon
Still breathing Syracuse, Wake Forest, UNC Kentucky, South Car
LSU is a 2 loss team and if they win out then they will almost be guaranteed a spot.
We have are 57% into the season and currently only 15% of the teams have a realistic shot.
Unless of course your in the SEC then 50% have a realistic shot thanks to our wonderful committee.
If you are P5 team outside of the SEC then 11% of those teams have realistic shot.
If you are a G5 Team then your last hope bowed out before the season was half over.
This is why the playoff expansion will make College Football so much better.

This is why the playoff expansion will make College Football so much better. Maybe... I think, what made college football SO EXCITING was: You KNOW, in September, that a loss probably ends your chance of a National Title... but, other goals were still attainable.

One thing that I will like a whole lot better is that we don't have to wait a month after the season is over before the playoffs start. Back before the CFP in both 2006 and 2007 the Buckeyes had over 50 days between games. Granted we got it handed to us but that was over a half a season between games. I think once the playoffs is adopted I think everyone will be on board real quick.

Everything pre-BCS = 1000% mythical
BCS = 95% mythical
CFP = 80 % mythical
The proposed 12 team event = 30 % mythical

The playoff will enhance the conference races. Win your conference and you are in.
Right now, I think the Big XII has the strongest conference, because there are no easy gimmee wins. Will they make the playoff this year? Probably not, and that's a shame.
With a 12 team playoff, Texas would still be alive to make it, but they would absolutely have to win the conference to get in.
Imagine that Texas wins out and gets in a 12 team playoff...and they have to go to Ann Arbor for their first game. You don't think that will be more exciting than a possible Cheeze It Bowl berth? lol

The end of the season would be exciting for more teams with a 12 team playoff. It’s the regular season that will not mean as much.
And will it really provide different outcomes at the end? Doubtful. UGA would still have crushed anyone last year.

Here is how the 2021 playoff would have looked with 12 teams last year. Remember, Georgia lost the SEC Championship last year, and the effect of that would have been visible with a 12 team playoff.
Georgia now has to play Pitt and then Baylor before they get a rematch with Alabama. Georgia has to work their way up instead of a layup against Michigan. The SEC Championship actually matters in a 12 team playoff.
Honestly, I think you'd end up with an Alabama vs. Ohio State National Championship.

In that scenario Ohio State gets ttun St then the winner gets ttun. If ND would beat Utah then another rematch with Cinti.

TCU demoted if there are 3 1 loss SEC teams then no guarantees for the frogs If TCU were to go undefeated, I'd have a hard time not seeing them get in...
I really don't see the committee putting an undefeated P5 team on the outside...ESPN may be clamoring for the SEC, but IMO there would be massive blowback leaving an undefeated P5 school out. The playoff would look like a complete sham. Massey has the Big XII has the top conference
