Yes...to select At Large entries. Champions select themselves in real national championships. Also in real national championships no teams get 'voted' directly into the finals or semi-finals. They are required to actually 'play' their way into those positions by surviving 1st or 2nd round competition and quarter final competition. Only surviving that rewards them with a semi-final opportunity. Huge difference between 'real'earned' and mostly mythical. Playing is better than voting.
Not the rules for all divisions.

Not the rules for all divisions. All the NCAA championship divisions believe playing is better than voting for determining a champion. Only in the FBS ( B for exhibition ) does a selection committee decide who the semi finalists should be. In 'Real' NC playoffs the scoreboards at the quarterfinals sites decide who the semi-finalists should be. One system is largely 'mythical' and one is not.

Congrats to your team, Hero! Four natty's in seven years is amazing. Thanks GG. Fun time to be a Bama Fan. Saban does not leave much if anything to chance, and he knows the math of college football, hence the onside kick. Saban, as most of us know, knows that the team with the most turnovers wins - onside kicks are functionally turnovers. Bama had 16 possessions Clemson 15. Where did the extra possession come from? The onside kick.

It is a shame that Alabama never had an opportunity to compete for real national football championships.

It is a shame that Alabama never had an opportunity to compete for real national football championships. Alabama competed in 15 games, on the field..... And they WON the championship this year. Nothing you or Hen, with your worn out petty sniping can say, will ever take away from that. It's in the books.

It is a shame that Alabama never had an opportunity to compete for real national football championships. Agree. The Tide may have won somewhere between zero and 20 NCAA titles.

It was one of nearly 60 FBS championships (divisions, conferences, bowls) that were won this season. Alabama (and Clemson) competed in 15 games, but neither is among the 3 Division I teams that have actually won 15 games in a season.

Put your money where your mouth is. Lol. You obviously didn't click on the link! I never know what is happening with Finebaum or his show. I do have a great deal of admiration for people who make a career with no talent in the chosen field. Finebaum is a great example. Cathy Griffin comes to mind.

Everything pre-BCS was 100% mythical BCS was a 'little' less mythical.... maybe 90% mythical CFP yet a little less mythical...maybe 75 % mythical Small baby steps in the right direction Doesn't FCS have a selection committee also?
If so, it's somewhat mythical as well.
That is going way, way too far. I suppose the only true 100% champion would be if every team played every other team on the same day at the same field so each team would have the same weather, wind direction, poll ranking and etc. Then, the top two would have to play best of seven a la Pro Baseball.

If that happened, BH would still bitch.
