We are visiting family near Asheville / Burnsville, NC right now...some mountain top resort called Mountain Air. Right now I am having coffee looking out over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Beautiful. You are in this area, correct?

My child bride and I will be driving through the area in November, going from Summerville, SC to Gatlinburg.

Won't be leaving the mountain during this trip but going to a game at VaTech is on my list so hopefully we can meet up that way in the future! Speaking of which, whatever happened to HellYeaHokie?

He never said this exactly, but I have always suspected that He was worried about political statements he'd made on here. He said he was a University professor. Sometimes, we dragged him into agreeing with political positions that could get him in trouble with his peers. He was far less liberal than most college professors. Thats my theory anyway. I hate that he left... Especially over politics. Would have been better if he'd just ignored it. But, I know from experience, it's hard to do. He and NCT were great assets to the board. :-(

I think, we should have a NatChamp BBQ.... At Hen's place. Lord knows, we'd be SAFE there!
I volunteer to bring the Bourbon. :-)

Why would anything that HYH said on here have anything to do with his professor job? How would anyone from his work know that he posts anonymously on this random internet message board?

It's not impossible to figure out who people are here... I've done it three times, with few clues. He'd already told us he was a professor, and at which school. That narrows it down, considerably. He had already stated opinions here that woul NOT be popular on most college campuses. I think it worried him... So, he found an excuse to leave. maybe, he'll pop back one day.... Just to say, I'm WAY off. Until then, I'll go with my gut.

A friend of mine lives at Balsam Mountain Resort, about 40 minutes west of Asheville and fairly close the Western Carolina University - what a beautiful place! His house sits up on top of the mountain and the view is amazing. Great golf course as well.
I just learned that our LLS ride for next year will take place in Virginia - the Jamestown Granfondo so I'll be out that way next June!
Over the weekend I participated in the Pan Ohio Hope Ride for the American cancer Society - rode 328 miles in 4 days, my a$$ is pretty sore, Saturday's 93 miles were brutal as it was hilly and hot with high humidity but it was an awesome experience and a lot of money was raised for ACS.

It will take us around an hour out of our way, but we will take a detour through Cherokee, NC. It won't be in full swing in November, but still an enjoyable side trip.

Those Blue Ridge mountain top resorts and gated communities like this and the one GG was visiting are pretty 'high class'. Great places for retirement.

This guy was a colleague at work who married later in life and his wife was a bank VP before retiring. They are one of only a handful of families who actually live in the resort full time - just a beautiful place. We always spend the night on our trips to Hilton Head - cuts the drive in half.
