I went there as a little kid, and on the way to Yellowstone a few times I rode my bike cross country last year and one the towns we stayed overnight at was Marfa. Had the one of the best hamburgers I’ve ever eaten at a place called The Water Stop. It also had some history because the movie Giant was filmed there. We asked someone at breakfast about the Marfa lights and they said they’re real but we didn’t see them. Just a cute little town that we enjoyed on our ride.

Of the cities I’ve visited here are three that I’d go back to in a heartbeat….
Salzburg, Austria Edinburgh, Scotland Porto, Portugal
I’d also say everyone should put Oktoberfest (Munich) on your bucket list - we had such a great time there, what a party.
In America I’ve enjoyed just about all the big cities but her are a few smaller, remote places that were wonderful places to visit…
Marfa, Texas Kennicott/McCarthy, Alaska Jackson Hole, Wyoming Watson Glenn, New York Bar Harbor, Maine
And I’ll say I love Boston but there’s no place I rather spend my life than Cincinnati.

Was impressed with how composed the Yale coach was - I would have been pulling my hair out but he didn’t have any hair. Great game to watch unless you’re Charles Barkley - he was classic in the studio.

And Kansas should NEVER need a bogus foul call to help them beat Samford. These teams have every advantage, constantly on TV, rabid fans, storied histories - they’re basketball royalty. For Calipari to say the freshman didn’t show up (in so many words) is his fault. He’s the one who recruits all the one and domes and then to use that as an excuse? Maybe it’s time for a new leader at Kentucky.

Oh my lord, Marisa Tomei was so hilarious. MamaBevo looked a LOT like her around that time, and had much of the same Italian fire. Watch the opening scene from the movie Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead to see Marissa in all her glory!!!

In the immortal words of Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas)….Greed is a good thing. I’m not so sure that applies to college football.

Growing up I was spoiled to have the Reds to root for. They were truly a ‘big Red Machine’ and true professionals. The pitching staff seemed pretty mediocre but if you look back at their ERA’s they all would be making millions and millions of dollars today - Don Gullett (recently passed away), Jack Billingham, Gary Nolan, Freddie Norman and Pat Zachary (1976 NL Rookie of the Year). The 75/76 Reds were one of the top 5 teams in baseball history.

In 1968 Bob Gibson won the NL Cy Young Award. The Cardinals lost the world series in 7 games to the Tigers - the same season Denny McLain won 31 games. Amazingly, Gibson lost 9 games with a 1.12 ERA!

In 1972, Steve Carlton was 27-10 with an ERA of 1.97. He pitched in 346 innings, had 310 K’s and 30 complete games to win the Cy Young Award. Making this even more impressive is the fact his team, the Philadelphia Phillies, finished in last place in their division - 37.5 games out of first. Their record was 59-97. Carlton nearly accounted for half of his teams wins.

The 4 QB’s to beat all 32 current franchises are Manning, Favre, Brees and Brady. My guess is Rodgers needs to beat the Packers.

I remember watching Secretariat race - he was an incredible machine. Still holding all 3 records 51 years later is mind boggling. There have been 153 winners since and not one could top Secretariat.

I started following the NFL in the 70’s. You had Bradshaw (4 Super Bowl wins), Roger Staubach, Bob Griese, Ken Stabler and Fran Tarkenton. The 80’s were better - Montana, Marino, Elwayand Jim Kelly.
The thing is, rules have changed so much it’s hard to compare. Receivers are so much better and deeper now too.
