You regularly disparage football programs in lower NCAA divisions. I generally try my best to simply ignore any discussion of the programs in the lower NCAA divisions. I have no desire to disparage them. Like most people, I simply have little interest in them. I do sometimes take exception when you and Hen attempt to point to them, and their playoff format as some paragon of virtue. Their system, and issues are NOT the same and should not be compared as such. Lol. You say that you have no desire to disparage, and then disparage in the next sentence! Of course there is less and less interest as the divisions get lower and lower. I don't think that I can even name a national champion in the history of the NAIA. I know that I can't name Florida's reigning Class A high school champion. But, I don't have a driving compulsion to bring this up over and over, ad nauseum, as if to belittle their championships. However, as small, insignificant and little noticed as they are, every NAIA champion has one thing that no CFP champion can ever have: a legitimate national championship.

Lol. You say that you have no desire to disparage, and then disparage in the next sentence! What?? That was not "disparagement"... it was simply a statement of fact. Any disparagement is only in YOUR mind.. every NAIA champion has one thing that no CFP champion can ever have: a legitimate national championship. Now this, on the other and, is TRUE Disparagement... Not fact.. simply your negative opinion,

There may never be an end to this 'real' vs 'mythical' debate. I don't expect Bevo to give an inch although in his heart I suspect he knows the difference.

When they were 100% voted on, without even having games between the top teams? They were highly mythical. The current system, IMO, is as real as ANY.. the ONLY difference is, the # of teams chosen for the playoff. This method gets the best teams, and they must EARN their title, as truly as any team in any Division.

Now, if I have disparaged CFP champions, please tell me what they are supposedly legitimate national champions of? They are members of the NCAA. Are they NCAA national champions? They are in the FBS. Are they FBS national champions?

In my view : 'Voted' with no post season competition to prove anything = 100% mythical
Voted directly into a champ game = 95% mythical
Voted directly into a semi-final = 85% mythical
Being the last team standing in a post season, all inclusive, ON FIELD , elimination competition with NOTHING decided by a board room discussion or TV = 100% REAL...the true essence of sport.

Now, if I have disparaged CFP champions, please tell me what they are supposedly legitimate national champions of? They are members of the NCAA. Are they NCAA national champions? They are in the FBS. Are they FBS national champions? Of course they are not Champions of the NCAA. NO TEAM is. There are far too many teams in the entire football group to have a single National Champion. But, they are the Champion of the HIGHEST DIVISION of the NCAA (FBS). They are ONLY team that can make any kind of legitimate claim to being the FBS Champion. You and others may have the "opinion" that it completely excludes all G5 teams. There is no rule you can point to that proves this. And, there is not enough empirical evidence yet to make this case. Could it be better? Maybe... Eventually, if we stay with 4 teams in the playoff, we'll get a team that could make a legit claim at the end of the year that they should be the Champion. It hasn't happened yet. It would be much less likely to ever happen if there were 8 teams in the playoff. For now though, having 4 teams seems to be producing the desired result: A legitimate National Champion. The NCAA seems to be perfectly content with this arrangement. If they weren't I expect they'd be ignoring it and contemplating law suits in support of the disaffected G5 schools. Maybe I've missed it, but... I haven't seen or heard ANYTHING about that from the NCAA?

Then why doesn't the trophy say "FBS National Champion"? Because it isn't so! (except in your fantasy world) lol.
Real national championship trophies say both "NCAA" and the respective division. A team that has won such a trophy is "an" NCAA champion, but not "the" NCAA champion. In any given year, there are 3 college football teams that can rightfully claim to be NCAA champions.
The winner of the CFP cannot be among the 3, because there is no FBS champion.
The winner of the CFP is the CFP national champion, joining WKU as the CUSA national champion, etc.

At least I am capable of forming an argument, while you are resigned to listing your favorite childhood cereals.

That is only because you refuse to accept reality. Perhaps because you are lost in a fantasy world of your childhood cereals.
