Just sittin' around on New Year's eve doing a little SEC mythology research. Came up with these facts by going over all SEC team schedules in the BCS/CFP era ( 1998-)
* In the BCS/CFP era the entire 14 member SEC averages 5.4 regular season true road games vs other , so called, P5 leagues, per season. 5.4 !!!!
*That is 3 % of all regular season games played by the 14 SEC teams.....3 % on the road vs P5 peers !!
The collective record of the SEC in true road games vs P5 peers in this period is ......49-59 for a .454 success rate .
Much safer scheduling 8 home games per season, 25% of which are vs a lower division.

Hen, you'd have better luck spending your time trying to prove that Raquel Welch was one on the ugliest women in film in the 20th century.

Ha...I admit that Hero. But isn't it amazing that when the SEC occasionally hits the road it gets spanked around ?

True Bevo...nobody care about facts like that I can't even understand your facts, Hen. I guess I'm "brainless"... (kind of feeling that way this morning) I used to think I was good at math. But, I'm still trying to figure out how those SEC teams figured out how to NOT play their required 4, away conference games without playing against a P5 team???

Alabama knocked FSU out of the top five this year. I was pretty happy about that. Arguing about conferences is just not my thing.

Alabama always schedules a top team LSU schedules pretty well....Auburn opened up with Clemson Georgia went to South Bend I don't know what hen is talking about

The SEC scheduling has been slowly improving, but the stat even looks worse when you look at road games against P5 teams in another state.

No big secret to figure out :
In the BCS/CFP era the SEC has chosen to play an average of only 5.4 genuine regular season 'road' games per season vs other , so called, P5 leagues. It spends 3X that playing home FCS games !!!
...and when it does occasional venture to a genuine road game vs another P5 league it doesn't fare well.
49-59 is the record.
SEC on road vs Peers ( BCS/CFP era )...year by year :
98) 1-3 99) 2-2 00) 1-3 01) 2-2 02) 0-9 03) 6-2 04) 1-1 05) 3-2 06) 3-3 07) 2-2 08) 3-7 09) 3-1 10) 3-3 11) 4-1 12) 3-2 13) 4-4 14) 2-4 15) 2-0 16) 1-5 17) 3-3
What's so complicated about that for all you educated gents ?

Hen,
At least you’ll get to see an SEC team lose in the national championship game.

The SEC, like everyone else, schedules in a way they believe gives themselves the BEST chance to make it to BCS, or CFP. Their results show: They're doing the right thing.

I 'm not so sure "everyone else" avoids road games like the SEC does, Bevo, but haven't researched any other league (yet). No doubt that cowardly scheduling is the smart strategy for the mythical system.
