More interesting days are ahead and it is true that Alabama has not been tested but Texas AM has lost only to Clemson by 2 and to Bama by 22 so they must be pretty good. That said, I hope the testing comes later rather than sooner. I honestly don't think the defense is ready for a serious test like Ohio State yet. Your QB looks like magic sometimes. Just wait til the Citadel comes to town. That will be a test ( a test of scheduling integrity ) SEC teams can lose to Citadel. Citadel is the only SoCon team with multiple wins against SEC opponents.
As Bevo correctly pointed out, it's financial.
Citadel has games with Clemson, Bama, GT and Ole miss that will earn them nearly $2million bucks.
That kind of cash infusion keeps the AD happy.

It's not financial for the hosting teams..it's cowardice and strategic to negotiate the mythical system. Why don't they just make donations to the Citadel and schedule competitive OOC games ?

The pols in Columbia "strongly encourage" Clemson and SCAR to schedule a rotation of Citadel and Furman and SC State to help with "funding".

I get the in-state thing - i'd rather see Ohio State play Akron, Kent, Toledo, Bowling Green, Miami, Ohio U or Cincinnati over Tulane, which they played this year. the results are going to be similar but they're helping a team from Ohio with the big payday.

hmmmmm...that's interesting. You sure, CPA ? SC State and Citadel are public. Why would there be state political pressure to help out those two public Universities and one single 'Private' University like Furman , instead of the other Private schools from the FCS, like Wofford ?
I's comical that some posters think Citadel ( and like) schedule Bama when it needs $. Nope, Bama schedules Citadel (and like) when it needs a free 'W" and a week off.

It's all political "optics".
It keeps the pols from having to make a decision to allow increases to tuition and look bad in the eyes of their constituents.
They also schedule Wofford periodically.

Florida Georgia Line is my favourite country music band. Headliners Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard are those people that could make anyone sing along with them. That's why I like to attend their concerts. And - that's surprisingly wonderful - in 2019 they have CAN'T SAY IT AIN'T COUNTRY TOUR which covers all the US cities and towns. For concert info visit fgltour.com.

Breaking Benjamin is my favourite band of 90s. They had so many hit songs! The ones I remember are 'The Diary of Jane', 'Tourniquet' and, of course their hit 'So Cold'. These are real masterpieces, not fake like today! And it is sooo good that they have a tour in 2020! So I'm going to attend Breaking Benjamin concert this year. The tour dates is here: https://breakingbenjaminconcerts.com. Open the page and maybe we can even visit one of the Benjamin's together!

It's not financial for the hosting teams..it's cowardice and strategic to negotiate the mythical system. Why don't they just make donations to the Citadel and schedule competitive OOC games ? Why? Because, like electricity, you want the path of least resistance. I'm pretty sure that if D1 banned FCS games, half of the FCS teams would cease football operations....it's that important to the budget. Hey. I'd love to see Clemson whoop Mr. Khaki pants from *ichigan on national TV, or take USC to the woodshed...just a couple of the blue bloods Clemson hasn't chewed up lately. But under the current playoff structure, 4 tough OOC games aren't on the radar....for any school.

That's truly comical - rent-a-win scheduling by the win-at-all-costs factories is purely philanthropic...nothing at all self serving about it for building W-L records necessary to the mythical system success.
Good humor fellers ! I can't stop laughing.

That's truly comical - rent-a-win scheduling by the win-at-all-costs factories is purely philanthropic...Tiger didn't say it was. Did you not understand the part about "Path of least resistance"? It's self-serving for Top 5 programs, in tough conferences, to have at least a couple of "easy" wins on the schedule. It helps rest the starters and develop the backups. But, Tiger is also 100% correct about the importance of these large PAYDAYs to the smaller teams. Without it, many of the would NOT be able to continue funding football... and, many other sports.
