If Brian Kelly doesn't win the natty next year, Urban Meyer will be ND's coach. Pretty crazy but that has been his lifetime dream job. ND would have to lower its standards for that to happen. Exactly why he went to Florida over ND - the entire family thought he was headed to ND and he told them, no - I'm going to Florida. Better recruiting ground and the academic standards aren't as high (although Florida is one of the better SEC schools academically). At this point, I don't have a feel for whether he'll coach again or not. I asked his sister and she doesn't either - she didn't even know he was stepping down until the night before. I know his wife wants him to be done. He's said as much. I don't think he'd go to ND for reasons already stated. I also don't think he'd survive in the NFL - if one loss damn near kills him imagine what 7 or 8 losses would do. I do like the idea of him sticking around Columbus and serving as a mentor/advisor to the coaches in the OSU program. I guess it all depends on how well he adjusts to his new life. He'll need to find something else to fill the competitive void - not sure what that might be.

yeah, I read an interview and he stated that it is impossible to win in the NFL up to his CF standards. St. Nick found that out.
Florida has, indeed, relative high standards for students but its scholly FB players are collectively pretty dumb. Scholarship jock standards are never the same as real student standards throughout big time college sports.

Is Swinney a GOAT? Only 3 time winner of the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award. :-) no but he's upwardly mobile and just edged ahead of Saban in difficulty to beat. I think he's up to 13th all time now in career success rate among major level HCs
