In the 3 championship division of college football they don't have those "Cluster Fruck" problems. The winners of the 4 quarter final playoff games become the clear final four teams....no conference room meetings, no committees, no beauty contest voting, no ESPN lobbying, no mythical bull$hit of any kind. I believe it's a better way. The three Championship Division are irrelevant, in almost every way. They could suspend play tomorrow, and not one in a hundred would notice.

Probably so from a popularity standpoint but their championship systems have light years more integrity than the DPI....that's the point. All the team sports at all levels on planet Earth do too.
BTW, Bevo, there are over 30,000 young student-athletes playing championship division college football every season. They love the sport , work hard at it and most are legitimate college students, and they love having opportunities to compete for national championships. Those kids, their families, friends and fans might find all that having some relevance in their lives. Also, there happens to be 122 'small college' guys in the pro football Hall Of Fame . That's 32% of the total enshrined there. They can play and coach too. It's not intramurals, Bevo. Your elitist comments that nothing matters other than the TV exhibition division of college football makes you sound a little like Trump.

Probably so from a popularity standpoint but their championship systems have light years more integrity than the DPI....that's the point. All the team sports at all levels on planet Earth do too. It works for them... they have NOTHING TO LOSE, and great potential to gain if they devote a large chunk of their season to a playoff. That model doesn't work in the Big Boy world. BTW, Bevo, there are over 30,000 young student-athletes playing championship division college football every season. They love the sport , work hard at it and most are legitimate college students, and they love having opportunities to compete for national championships. Those kids, their families, friends and fans might find all that having some relevance in their lives. There are, WAYYY TOO MANY small colleges playing football. I hope they enjoy it while they can. It won't last. The lawyers have football in their jaws. It's not long for the world. The smaller colleges will be the first to go. Your elitist comments that nothing matters other than the TV exhibition division of college football makes you sound a little like Trump. LOL That's pretty funny. Whatever you may think of Trump, he is very much Anti-Elitist. I will accept, as a compliment, your suggestions that, like Trump, I am unafraid to SAY things that are TRUE, everybody KNOWS are true, but... polite people won't say. Things like, "No human would WANT to live in Elijah Cumming's rodent-infested district". Or, The NCAA Football Championship Divisions are Irrelevant to the sports world.

A championship wouldn't work for the "big boys" . why not ? A Championship does work ... we have one now. What doesn’t work is spending 5 weeks on a playoff.

We have an Invitational post season event. I'm talking a championship playoff.You already have 5-6 week waits for the 'Invitational' bowl games. That 5 week stuff is a lame excuse. Besides an all inclusive 16 team championship would consist of 4 weeks only, 15 total games and one non voted champion. So easy. 15 total playoff games vs what...38 post season exhibition games ?
The powers that perpetuate the exhibition post season are somehow afraid of a real championship. Can't upset the long standing PSEG culture.

CFP = College Football PLAYOFF.
Might not be as big a field as you like but, if it's good enough for Phil Steele, it's good enough for me.
The sad thing is: It's the stupid G5 conferences that are preventing going to an 8-team field including all P5 Champs and a few at-large. In this way, the G5 are actually WORSE than the lower divisions. The lower divisions are completely irrelevant. The G5 schools are actually screwing things up.
There is NO WAY the BCS teams will ever go to a 16-team format. It's just not going to happen... mainly because, the schools themselves DO NOT WANT IT. An 8 team field is potentially do-able.... but, doesn't treat the G5 in the same way.
The G5 teams should have their OWN 8-team tourney field... problem solved.

It would certainly happen if the post season was administered by the governing body of the sport.....like the championships of all other team sports on Earth. They are are all administered and awarded by the governing body of that sport. That's why the 'big boy' post season will always be 'exhibition' in nature with mythical championships.

I guess, if Dr. Pepper organized a 16-team playoff including ALL the conference champs, it would STILL be 'mythical' because it wasn't organized by the all-powerful ruling body, the NCAA?

Can't administer a playoff if the post season is controlled/hijacked by the bowl, cartel and TV people. The NCAA finally did get it right and offer real football championships for the last 47 years. Only one division refuses to participate. A Dr.Pepper-ESPN 16 team, real, on field, inclusive FBS championship ?? Hmmmmmm...that could very well have pretensions of 'real' ( vs mythical) You should lobby U of Texas to drop out of the NCAA

As long as the cartel continues to hijack the FBS post season from the governing body of the sport the wait will be indefinite.
But Hero, what does the 100 year comment refer to ? What 100 years ?
