The Ohio Governor requested that all colleges go to remote classes yesterday and our university decided to cancel all non-essential travel, which I guess, attending basketball games in NYC qualifies. Really bummed for my wife - she was looking forward to it so much. It's been a rough 12 months for her in terms of health issues with family members. Her uncle was just buried on Saturday - she needed to get away which I told her we'd do as soon as all this hysteria dies down. What a cluster-f%$#k!
Being a cancer survivor and actually taking a chemo pill every day, I obviously feel the need to be more cautious - I get it. But I'm also in very strong cardio shape so I think that would help negate my lower immunity tolerance - but who knows. Better safe than sorry. And I think the big concern is people going to the tourney and somehow contracting the virus and bringing it back to campus. That could be a big problem. So....if anyone wants to do anything this weekend we'll be in town now!

That sucks... Our company internal communication has been very weak. First, they put out an email telling everyone to STOP ALL non-essential travel, domestic and international. So, here in the US, we stopped. But now, every week, we keep having bunches of Germans coming over for routine meetings and tasks. WTH? They're from Munich, only 2 hours by car from Italy. And the first case in Italy came from contact with an infected German in Munich.
I'm suggesting, as of today, that ALL workers who can, begin working from home. The next 7-10 days of this virus are going to be critical here in the US. The numbers are going up quickly. By design (since I normally travel quite often) I can do 95% of my routine duties from anywhere. I have a very nice office in my basement. I'm going to "social distance" myself, even if I can't convince everyone here to do so.

Ohio Governor just issued the order: NO FANS in attendance for the NCAA Basketball games in Dayton. Yep - and I think the Cleveland NCAA first and second round games will be next which is a shame for Dayton Flyer fans. The Flyers are having the greatest season in the schools history and they have some of the most loyal fans in all of college basketball - they'd sell out the Cleveland arena by themselves and chances are high they wont be able to attend the games.
