Hard to take this seriously when 4 of the top 8 are Nebraska teams and no Alabama teams are in the final 8 (or an LSU team that just had one of the greatest seasons in college football history). I guess al Nebraska fans can do these days is revel in those glory days from years gone by - similar to Michigan fans who still brag about that great run from 1895-1910... Laughing, yes not sure this is 100% scientific.

LOL 2005 Texas is probably going to have to beat three Nebraska's in a row!

And look at their QB's - Eric Crouch (who somehow won the Heisman), Brooks Berringer, Scott Frost and Tommy Frazier. Can you imagine those teams trying to comepte aganst the offenses today? I do think the Tommy Frazier team was one of the best in the past 25 years but the other, no way. What LSU did to Oklahoma in the playoff is pretty much what would happen against those teams.

Down to the Elite 8: /photo/1 that tourney has been hijacked by Nebraska fans. I know Nebraska had some good teams in the 90s, but cmon...there have been some REALLY GOOD teams since Nebraska's run Yeah, Nebraska fans always slam online polls

Here is just a short list of teams (from the last 20 years) that I think would have a serious shot at winning this tournament if it was actually played out
Going backwards:
LSU 2019 - no need to describe them, we just witnessed their dominance
Clemson 2018 - not a lot of weakness on this team, and a stellar D line. Alabama was able to run on them some though, they just couldn't cash in any points
Ohio State 2014 - at the end of the season, they were playing stellar football. Very hard to stop, especially Ezekial Elliot. This team actually kind of reminded me of Nebraska 95 in some aspects: Strong team, strong running back. Players included Joey Bosa and Michael Bennett
FSU 2013 - While I prefer other FSU championship teams to this one, FSU 2013 put up some record stats, and sent a lot of talent to the NFL. Kelvin Benjamin, Freeman, J. Winston, LaMarcus Joyner, Telvin Smith
Alabama 2012 - This may be the best Alabama team of the dynasty. They still had a stonewall physical defense, and a brutal running attack. Eddie Lacy and Amari Cooper starred on this team. Junior QB AJ McCarron
Alabama 2011 - Probably one of the best defensive teams ever. Dre Kerpatrick, Mark Barron, Courtney Upshaw, Donta Hightower. I think the 2012 offense was a little better, but this defense was a stone wall
Florida 2008 - Year of the Tebow. They were absolutely loaded at every position, this team oozed talent. Tebow was so freakin hard to stop too...he literally willed his team to win
Texas 2005 - Vince Young was amazing of course. He didn't have the tenacity Tebow had, but his speed was amazing. Texas already had an amazing team and amazing defense, but VY was an X Factor no defense could account for.
Honorable mention: USC 2005 - One of the best offenses ever. By 2005, USC was an offensive machine. They were lightning in a bottle. USC defenses were still improving though (I don't think USC had their best defense till 2008).
USC 2004 - The precursor to the '05 monstrosity was still a really good team and an offensive powerhouse. They went wire to wire, but they did have some close calls; in four games they were held to under 30 points.
Miami 2001 - I'll list this team because I won't deny that they were pretty loaded. I will however argue against romanticizing them as one of the best ever. Massive amount of NFL talent, but never had to play a team worth a damn. Seriously, check that '01 schedule. Close game against...Boston College?? 2002 Miami looked pretty good as well until they got on the field with equal talent.

There have been teams of dominance and teams of destiny.
TX 05 was probably the best combination of both.

There have been teams of dominance and teams of destiny. TX 05 was probably the best combination of both. The Vince Magic started in the Baylor game, the year before! So, they were on a 1.5 year roll. Destiny was real. They had faced adversity, and prevailed. EVERY player on that team had 100% confidence in VY. And, EVERY fan that watched them.
