Top Ten Saturday Night Live skits...
10. Refrigerator repairman - Dan Akyroyd show's up to repair the nerd's (Gilda Radner and Bill Murray) refrigerator and while they're enjoying egg salad sandwiches they discover 'the moon was out a little early' with a pencil stuck right in the middle of it.
9. Chippendale Dancers - It's Barney (Chris Farley) vs Adrian (Patrick Swayze) dancing off to be the newest Chippendale dancer - who do you think wins?
8. Coneheads on Family Feud - If for no other reason just to hear their answer for...something you bite on - the big one!
7. The Cheerleaders - Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri cheer at a chess match and other competitions. Our daughter and her friend did this skit at their 8th grade variety show and nailed it.
6. The Bass-o-matic - a bass and a blender with Dan Akyroyd as the over aggressive pitchman - M-m-m--m, that's great bass!
5. Cow Bell - I got a fever and the only prescription is more cow bell. Will Ferrell was pounding the hell out of the cowbell and Jimmy Fallon was cramming the drumsticks up his nose to keep from laughing. And until i saw that skit I had no idea 'Don't Fear the Reaper' even had cow bell in it!
4. Buckwheat sings - Eddie Murphy reprised this one at Christmas time this year with a spoof about The Masked Singer. Youtube it!!
3. Wayne's World - Party on, Garth! Party on, Wayne! I'm not worthy when Aerosmith showed up in the baskement! Led to a couple movies, Mike Meyers and Dana Carvey at their best - until Meyers did Austin Powers.
2. Celebrity Jeopardy - Le Tits Now for 200, Trebek. That's Let it snow...Turd Ferguson and that's not what your mother said, last night.
1. Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker - Chris Farley lives in a van down by the river. David Spade and Christina Applegate laughed harder than the audience during the skit!
There are many others but these are certainly among the best!

In my opinion, and based on the years I've been a Buckeye fan, these would be my top 10 Ohio State teams....
10. 2012 - Went 12-0 but due to tattoo gate, was banned from post season play. this probably cost them a berth in the BCS championship game vs Notre Dame and gift wrapped a national championship to Alabama who was most likely better than both teams, anyway.
9. 1970 - This team was loaded but lost in the Rose Bowl to Jim Plunkett and Stanford for their only loss of the season. They were named national champs by the football sports writers prior to the bowls but without the Rose Bowl win, it's a shallow claim.
8. 1979 - Earle Bruce's first Buckeye team came within 1 point of winning the national championship, losing to USC in the Rose Bowl, 18-17. They were #1 heading into the bowl game.
7. 2019 - You all saw this team last season - I still say it was a catch and fumble but I'm sure our Clemson friends disagree. Heartbreaking loss but they would have had their hands full against LSU.
6. 1996 - Finished #2 behind Florida. The Gators got a redo against FSU and capitalized. The Buckeyes only loss was to Michigan when Shawn Springs slipped in coverage on a slant pass that went all the way for a TD. They knocked off undefeated ASU in the Rose Bowl, one of the great sports experiences of my life was attending that Rose Bowl.
5. 1998 - This team finished #2 behind Tennessee. There's no doubt in my mind they would have beat either team that played in the first BCS title game. FSU was playing with a back-up QB and Tennessee certainly took advantage of that situation. Another freak play led to their only loss - a punt bounced off a blocker who wasn't even looking at the ball a 24-9 lead turned into a 48-24 loss - easliy one of the worst in person experiences I can recall watching Buckeye football. I ran the Columbus Marathon the next day.
4. 1973 - This team went 10-0-1, tying Michigan 10-10 in the season finale. They blew out USC, who was the defending nationa champs, in the Rose Bowl. They finished #2 in the polls behind Notre Dame.
3. 1968 - The Super Sophs beat OJ Simpson and USC to win the 1968/69 National Championship. They would go on to lose their last game each of the following 2 seasons which certainly cost them 1 or 2 more championships. That group of sophs went 29-2 at Ohio State.
2. 2014 - Talent wise, this may be the best team ever (this one or 2015 which inexplicably lost to MSU to cost them a shot at repeating as NC's.) But no Buckeye team has ever had a run quite like the final 3 games of 2014/15 - they beat Wisconsin 59-0, Alabama 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl and drilled Oregon in the NC game. Zeke Elliott rushed for close to 700 yards in those 3 games. Still, they didn't win them all, losing to VT early in the season.
1. 2002 - This team went 14-0, every starter and close to 20 reserves wound up playing in the NFL and they beat a Miami team that was favored by 2 TD's in the Fiesta Bowl to capture the NC. My favorite Buckeye team of all time. Every week they were tested and every week they won with defense and field position. It had been over 30 years since their previous championship and to end the drought it had to be this way - it was a season that had so many pivotal plays that it's difficult to say which was most important. But only one earned it's own name - Holy Buckeye - which was the game winning TD against Purdue. Wahat a season, what a team!

one of my favorites, although I hate the guy (Alec Baldwin), was the one when he was with the two NPR ladies doing a cooking show, talking about "Sweaty Balls".
Also, Eddie Murphy's "Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood"... "Mr. Robinson has to go now... it's getting too hot in the neighborhood".
And, the time Dan Akroid portrayed Julia Childs, and cuts his thumb off.

Same with Clemson 2019. Same with Alabama 2019 2019 was a true contest of champions 2002 Ohio State - I was pulling so hard for the Buckeyes in that game. Always great to see the Hurricanes lose 2014 Ohio State was really better than so many people realized. Ezekial Elliot was a beast 1998 Ohio State...I think they would have been the favorite in a 4 team playoff. Kansas State and Michael Bishop were interesting though. The BCS whiffed on it's first year. The BCS loved FSU though...goes to show how ripped off FSU was during their dynasty. But I digress 1996 Ohio State...good team, but not sure if they get past Florida or FSU

Being so close to Indiana, we get a lot of B1G football on TV here. The Buckeyes are on practically every week. I think I saw just about every game that year. They were VERY entertaining. All year, you just had the feeling that this team was "special". The defense was outstanding. And, the offense seemed to be able to do what they needed, when they HAD to have it. Never in my life have I cheered so hard for a team not wearing burnt orange than I did for Ohio State playing against Miami. What a nail biter. That HAD to a fun season for real Buckeye fans.

Never in my life have I cheered so hard for a team not wearing burnt orange than I did for Ohio State playing against Miami. What a nail biter. That HAD to a fun season for real Buckeye fans. Like I said, this is my favorite Buckeye team of all time and I've been following OSU football since 1968. The season started with an impressive win over Texas Tech (Kliff Kingsbury was the QB for Tech), a blowout of Kent State and then another big non-conference win over Washington State. Maurice Clarett was a monster the first 3 games but then he sat out the next game due to minor surgery on his knee. They played in Cincinnati at Paul Brown Stadium and quite frankly, UC had the game won but their receiver dropped a sure TD in the endzone on one of the final plays. The very next play, Ohio State intercepted. Clarett came back the following week and OSU had easier wins over Indiana, Northwestern (which actually was closer than expected)and San Jose State. After that, just about every game was a dog fight - Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, Illinois, Michigan - the only gimme was against Minnesota. Clarett suffered a stinger against Wisconsin was never 100% the rest of the season but he had a knack for making plays when Ohio State absolutely had to have him. None bigger than the strip he made in the Fiesta Bowl after Miami had intercepted Craig Krenzel in the end zone - this led to 3 points which were obviously needed as the game went into OT. He also scored 2 TD (including the game winner) in the game. And from the Penn State game on Chris Gamble played both ways the rest of the season and made key plays in every game - he should have received Heisman consideration, he was that important. Just a magical season - one I'll never forget and always recall with fond memories. Attending that game in Tempe was my greatest thrill (not family related) at a sporting event.

You went to that game? Wow. That must have been cool. Were you in a place where you could see clearly the "phantom PI"? :-)

You went to that game? Wow. That must have been cool. Were you in a place where you could see clearly the "phantom PI"? :-) We were on the 20 yardline behind Ohio State's bench, about 20 rows up. The Pedophile from Subway, Jared, delivered the game ball and he sat about 3 rows behind us. We were amongst all the OSU team members family and supporters. Funny thing, a friend lined up our tickets and we didn't have them in hand when we went to Tempe or the day of the game. We called him and he told us the guy with our tickets was at the stadium (along with about 150,000 other people), he was by the fan zone tent, he had a beard, was wearing a green shirt and Skeechers. Obviously, we felt very confident that we were going to find this guy given just about everyone from Miami was wearing green. Anyway, not more than a minute went by and a guy with a bear and green shirt walked by so I asked, 'Hey, are you wearing Skeechers?' and he said, 'Are you Vince?' and we had our tickets!
To answer your question, we were on the 20 yard line and the PI play was in the corner end zone closest to us - so we weren't far from the play. When it happened fireworks went off and Miami started to celebrate till the flag was noticed - it seemed like about 10 seconds but I was so devastated at that point I really couldn't say how long it was - we were just ecstatic that the game would continue. That was a great Ohio State team. All of the upper class players were recruited by John Cooper but it took Jim Tressel to get them to buy in and play as a team. And he made it clear from the start that Ohio State was going to embrace playing Michigan - something Cooper tried to downplay as his losses against them mounted. Since Tress took over OSU is 17-2 vs UM. And since that Fiesta Bowl Ohio State has been one of the top 5 teams in college football while Miami has fallen to mediocre status.
