Going back to the Ford years, Clemson had the heavy hand in recruiting in North Carolina. Clearly, you can see Mack's making a big difference.

Mack is one of the best EVER in these areas. Building, rebuilding, gathering parts for success.
I get the feeling he sees his own deficiencies and plans around them quite well.
I like Mack.

Toward the end of his Texas tenure I don't think Mack was having much fun. You could tell the pressure was mounting and he just appeared to be miserable - maybe that's just my perception. But the time off gave him a chance to prioritize and re-energize - he certainly appeared to be having fun last season. Maybe it's the fact that the expectations aren't as high at UNC but he just seemed to be far more at ease. Obviously he can recruit and his kids like him. That's more than half the battle!

I like Mack. 100% agree. Mack brought Texas back from the ash heap. Besides being a WINNER, He was always a quality person. Unfortunately, he LOST HIS DAMNED MIND when Bama injured Colt McCoy's shoulder. He thought he had to change, to be more like Bama. It was a miserable failure. Now, Bama plays more like Texas did. I'm Happy for Mack. I will always be a fan.

Also 100% correct. He was always a supreme recruiter. Even at the end of his career with us, we were recruiting well. We just weren't developing talent. And, I'm not sure we've fixed it still.

Problem with the ACC is that they have very few on campus venues that really attract college Athletes. I would put FSU and Clemson as the only true top tier facilities\environments. Miami and Pitt play all there games at a pro stadium. I am not sure if any of the other programs play in a stadium larger than 60 K except for maybe VT. UNC may make a decent run considering the recruits but I think it will only be short lived considering the age of Mack.

It is not really the stadium or the number of people they seat that is the big attraction for football players. It is the football facilities with there Jacuzzi's and meal places, the Taj Mahal's that attract players now. And almost every school is building these, along with indoor practice too.
