2008 was a season that fans were looking forward to... James Davis and CJ Spiller were in the backfield.
Then came early season losses to Bama and Maryland.
And, a loss to Wake. The Tigers were 3-3 (1-2). The exciting football season we had waiting all offseason for was already devoid of all hope.
But, what if Clemson had beaten Wake?
It’s crazy to think about what could be different if Clemson had managed two touchdowns in Winston-Salem. Troy Calhoun or Jim Grobe very well may have taken over at Clemson. Gary Patterson's name was tossed around a bit too.
Bowden was on his way out anyway, but if had survived to the end of the season, Dabo would not have become coach.
Life is full of times when you think things are terrible but it creates a path that you realize later you were meant to be on.
