I was looking through my FB feed a few weeks ago, and I saw a picture... and thought... hmn… that looks like Baker Mayfield.
Then, I realized that... yea, I DO know people who are good friends with Baker's Mom, and his Moms sister.. So, yea... I saw a lot of photos from a wedding Baker attended in South Carolina. His first cousin.
His GF/wife??? Looked hot! And, he looked happy... for what that's worth.

I knew Baker's Mom, Gina Dunn, very well.. She dated a close friend of mine in HS. After they broke up, we stayed friends. I gave her rides, at least twice, from our home town to Austin. She was beautiful, and yet...very friendly and approachable. Who would EVER say NO if she asked for a ride??
I HATE that she married a UH QB, and that her son ended up at OU..... but, friends come first. I wish nothing but the best for Baker.
Lord Knows, Cleveland needs help!

My claim to fame is that my college roomie once peed in the urinal next to Chris Spielman in college:) Regarding Baker, I have not yet determined if he just that competitive or kind of a punk. Sounds like your friend seems to see so good in the guy. I still have some scars from the flag plant plus the fact that he now resides in the city most know for the mistake by the lake. It was nice retribution when Bosa did the emulation of a flag plant after a sack in the no fun league.
I know politics is running rampant but Goddell is now apologizing for how they handled the kneeling issue? I have already scaled back my interest in the NFL but if they are going to protest against the Anthem and the flag, I will stand on the side of the Anthem and the flag.

I definitely think Baker is highly competitive. He was looked over in college. Then, in the right system, he blossomed. He regressed last year, but I think a lot of that was the Brown's coaching, and very poor O-line play. Baker is not a super-gifted athlete. He HAS to be in the right system. His strengths were "intangibles"... like, his ability to inspire team mates and make clutch plays. I'm not sure those skills carry over to the professional world. We'll see, I guess. When I was at UT, one of my room mates was a trainer for the football team. He got us invited to several of their parties, and I got to meet several of the players. Steve McMichael was one. That guy was/is a citizen of a planet that is NOT earth. He's 100% certifiably NUTS. And, I spent a weekend with him at a south Texas "Rattlesnake Roundup". Of all the stupid things I've done in my life, that might have been the dumbest! We walked around, in the dark, drinking massive amounts of beer, and tried to catch snakes with a long pole that had a rope on it. We caught two. I held the bag as McMichael put the snake in.... for the first one. After I changed my underwear, I gave the bag to someone else. As for the NFL? I hope they just stop playing the anthem. I don't want to see a bunch of rich black guys protesting their "oppression".

My wife dated Kyle Rudoph's dad in high school. I believe she saw him recently at a school reunion. I think Kyle has done pretty well for himself in the NFL and would expect he'll move back to Cincinnati when his career is over. I'm pretty sure it was cancelled but Kyle actually arranged for Darius Rucker to do a benefit concert at his high school but it was supposed to be in May. My wife's brother was planning to attend - the concert was going to be at the high school stadium, Elder HS, which seats about 10,000....

Speaking of peeing next to someone at the urinal.... I was in Pittsburgh at the airport and John MacLeod, who was the basketball coach at Notre Dame at the time, took a squirt next to me. Less than a month later, in the Cincinnati airport, I'm tinkling again and I look over and standing next to me is Digger Phelps - who MacLeod replaced at ND. He was wearing an ESPN or CBS baseball cap and I looked at him and said, "You're not going to believe this but last month at the Pittsburgh airport I pissed next to John MacLeod." He just looked at me like I was a doofus but I thought it was pretty funny/ironic.

As for the NFL? I hope they just stop playing the anthem. I don't want to see a bunch of rich black guys protesting their "oppression". Back when this was happening due to Kaepernick I said just play the anthem while the teams are in the locker rooms, seems like a pretty simple solution. After the anthem have them all run on to the field and start the game. Now it's going to be even messier I'm afraid.

If I remember correctly, Kyle Brady... former TE for Jax is GatorGrad's brother in law. He was a helluva player.

That being said, when you get in the NFL you can suprise some teams and end up with the decent rookie year. Then the defenses figure you out. Year 3 always seems to be a make or break year for the rookie QB's. The rattlesnake roundup seems like fun maybe 40 years ago or so. I tend to play it a bit safer these days. Regarding the anthem, I am good with that suggestion. Although knowing the NFL I fully expect them to shoot themselves in the foot again.
