As the communist attempt at a takeover of our country continues, it has become increasingly apparent that the media controls the perception of events, and that these events, such as COVID, are increasingly divorced from reality or science
The latest media attack is on Texas, because I guess we were doing so well, and the media got upset
I've been watching them pretty solid for about 2 months. I have not been watching the media fear-monger machine at all. The "spike" is probably about an additional 40k in the last several weeks. Meanwhile the fatality rate has dropped from 2.4% to 1.7%.
The Houston Mayor Turner seems to be impotent, and showed no action. Governor Abbot has tried to implement a straightforward plan, but is now being attacked hard for "not doing enough". Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo now seems to be running the show, and is trying to lock everything down again. She had previously tried to create a $1000 fine for people not wearing a mask, but that was shot down back in late April/early May.
My question is....why is a judge in charge of medical protocol? And yes, of course, she is blue....went to Stanford, etc.
My point in all of this is that it is clear, the MEDIA controls the perception of the virus. When the media machine screams, politicians drop and roll (over), and the public has to bend over backwards.
Now with Lina Hidalgo's new edict comes a chart showing different levels of threat. Yes, we are back to the a chart, similar to the terrorist level rankings after 9/11.
But where is the science? the number of people that have actually died in Texas is extremely small. Most people are surviving this. What happened to rational thought behind anything in our society? It is all driven on emotion and fear
SO WILL THERE BE A COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON??
I think that depends on the media, and their hatred for anything rational in American Society
All they have to do is bring down a shitstorm of coverage on how college football is endangering the lives of young black men by making them play during a pandemic. Once a team that gets a lot of cases has to quarantine a lot of players, the media can just unleash on them and put enough pressure to have it cancelled.
And POOF it's gone.
I hope college football happens, but since cowards in politics, corporations, and education just quake in their boots whenever the media shines their eye of Sauron on them, I don't have a lot of hope.

You are 100% correct in everything you say.
Thus, sadly... the answer to your question is self-evident.
There is not a chance in hell.

I think the one factor in support of having a college football season is the vast amount of money universities make from football, and how that money funds Title IX sports.
University presidents, ADs, and conferences are going to have to band together and stand strong if the media hound dogs come calling. Will this happen? So far it seems like Universities are buckling under pretty easily to the BLM mob.
We could have a chaotic football season, where many schools buckle under and cancel their football seasons. I think the SEC will try hard to make it happen....but who knows

I think if things don't take a nasty turn for the worse the season will be on. I know cases have gone up in Florida and Texas but what are the actual number of new hospitalizations, ICU admittance, and deaths. In Ohio the number of cases has gone up 50% of the past few weeks but all of the other numbers have continued to flat line. A big reason for this is they now offer free covid testing for everyone that wants it. naturally these numbers are going to go up.
Regarding the colleges, the amount of money to be lost is huge for all Power 5 conferences. Let each school make there decision on if the want to participate or not but if they want there piece of the pie then but players on the field. I think it is very likely for the B12 and SEC to put teams on the field. The P12 is clearly the least likely. It is going to see how these very liberally run university make the decisions vs there dilemma of saftely vs. money.

See, you are asking the right questions: "Cases" mean little to nothing. The focus on cases should be who is getting it (age, any pre-existing conditions) What you want to focus on is then numbers and progression of: hospital census -----> ICU census ---> ventilator census ----> deaths On trend, those are all declining at the moment and have been since peak.
