My wife and I visited Minneapolis this weekend - our daughter moved up there in October so we went up to see her. We had a great weekend. There are still many, many signs of the unrest which occurred following George Floyd's death but for the most part the city has settled down, we didn't encounter any protests. Many buildings, homes and businesses do have signs up in support of Floyd and BLM.
Minneapolis is a very nice city, lots of outdoor activities with lakes and parks within the city limits. Our daughter had reservations for nearly every meal and all the food was fantastic. We experienced our first Juicy Lucy, a cheeseburger that is famous in Minneapolis - the cheese is actually inside the burger and when you bite into it, the cheese oozes out like molten lava (but not nearly as hot, obviously). Highly recommend the Juicy Lucy. But I think the thing I'll take away from the weekend is just how proud I am of our daughter. She moved to a place she'd never been before, with no friends or family and within 6 months (subtracting the 2 she spent at home due to COVID) she's made it her home - hopefully just for now. She's very strong and independent. In that respect i think it's appropiate she move to Minneapolis - sort of like one of my favorite TV characters from the 1970's, Mary Tyler Moore.
The flight up to Minnesota was 2 hours so I watched a couple movies to pass the time - both were on Netflix; Dolemite with Eddie Murphy and Eurovision Song Contest with Will Ferrell. Both were silly but a great way to pass the time. All in all, a great weekend in Minnesota - you betcha!

The wonder of watching them grow. I love it. Troubling conversations with my younger son on the phone tonight... Nearly 2 hours talking with MamaBevo and I. I think, he may be moving back home for a little while. He's been in California a bit too long.

It is, or was a very nice city. I visited there years ago... used to fly through fairly often. Sad to see what has happened to it.

Not sure were he is but haven't places like LA been locked down since mid-March? I couldn't imagine that...at least we've been able to get out and do some things. Hope a trip home will be a big help.

I couldn't imagine that...at least we've been able to get out and do some things. Hope a trip home will be a big help. He's been in Burbank. The lockdown has been severe. The project he was working on has been delayed ( i.e.: no programming needed). And it's been really hard to find anything else. The YouTube production he stars in pays well, but not enough on its own to pay the bills. And, anyway.... They've had to pause that too. But, I can help with those kinds of problems. His mental state has been shaken by this excessive anti-social environment. He was having difficulty speaking, at first. He told us, he hasn't said a WORD to anyone in 3 weeks. This, from a kid who would NEVER shut up. He's been meditating a lot. Thankfully, not "medicating". He's become a health freak since moving there. Vegetarian and excercise fanatic. Not being able to hike and run in the park was hard on him. I think he needs some of Mom's home cooking. 😉

Nothing brings me and MamaBevo closer together than having a child in need of love.

Our daughter lived at home the first 2 months of the quarantine and I think that was very helpful to her. She and her roommate have a cute little apartment but I couldn't imagine being stuck there all day long - then the demonstrations started so she was able to avoid the worst of that situation. If you can work remotely you might as well do it somewhere you're comfortable and surrounded by family.

I'm thinking about moving to Barbados! :-) Our nephew works in DC but he's been home working remotely since March. If his company continues to work remotely in the fall he's going to Key West and work from his step father's vacation home. His dad is my wife's brother who's married to Urban's sister, his mom remarried a pretty wealthy guy who has homes in several locations - including Key West, obviously...I'm sure working from Key West will be difficult on the young man...

Sounds like a good weekend in Minneapolis. Did you see any chaos in the city? It is hard to tell what is going on these days because the so called news and reality are 2 different things.
