This season has a lot of potential to be more controversial than any in the CFP and BCS eras in my mind. The "eye test" might be really controversial.
For example, the committee would have to decide between that Buckeye’s 9 wins are better than Clemson’s 11 for seeding purposes. Two more outings. Two more wins. But less impressive. Even if Clemson played the Citadel twice, that’s still 2 more wins.

Nows the time to expand the playoff. Conference champion auto bids and at large spots. If it doesn’t happen this year with the perfect reason to, it will probably be another 20 years before we get a legit playoff.

Agreed every power 5 Conference gets a team in the playoff along with at least 3 at larges.

How do you judge a 7-0 USC? What if you have a 10-0 Clemson and 9-1 Notre Dame? What if UCF is undefeated? It's going to be a difficult choice

Just take the top four conference champions. Not enough statistical context to try to add at-large teams.

There has never been enough statistical context to select teams for the post season championship. Nows the time to make it less about statistical context and more about wins, losses and conference standings.
