I was attending UT during the entire career of Kenneth Sims. BIG Number 77 was a BEAST! We had a good run of tremendous Defensive lineman around that time... Steve McMichael, Bill Acker... and, of course, the man who convinced me to QUIT playing football, the infamous Kenneth McCune. McCune played for Brazoswood High School, our rival. They had powder blue jerseys. My Freshman year, I played left tackle... I was a year younger than most of those guys and I hadn't had my growth spurt yet. I think I was 5'2 and probable 175 pounds. Mr. McCune was at least 6'4 and had to weigh at least 240. On every snap, I'd see the powder blue of his jersey in front of my facemask, and then the powder blue of the sky above me... as I was laying flat on my back. Oh... and, HE was their kicker too. I "won" a practice drill that week to earn the right of "hitting the kicker" on kickoffs. I got 8 tries, but somehow 'just missed' on every one. ;-) Of course, the year after I quit, I grew 10" and muscled up considerably.... Oh, what MIGHT have been! Ken was All-SWC at Texas every year he played. He was listed at 6' 6" and 245. I think he was lying about that weight. Sadly, he was kicked out of school for shooting a BB gun at students from the window of his dorm. He wasn't the brightest of students.
