I had some early Zoom calls this morning but wanted to offer congratulations to Hero on the Alabama win last night. Ohio State had no answers for the arsenal of offensive weapons the Tide threw at them and they were relentless all night long. I felt the Buckeyes would have to score in the 40's for a chance to win and as it turns out, that wouldn't have been enough. I don't think our missing players would have made much of a difference - maybe we score another TD and lose by 21. Alabama was clearly the better team; no ands, ifs or buts.
This has been a crazy year. As much as I love college football I'm glad the season is over. I'm tired of wondering who has COVID and if the game is going to be played. I missed standing in our endzone seats at Ohio Stadium and enjoying college football on a crisp, fall afternoon. I missed gathering with my friends and watching the games in our respective mancaves. I am thankful that we at least got to experience 8 games, were able to beat Clemson and make it to the Championship game. That's far more than I would have expected back in September.
So we close the door on another college football season. The Crimson Tide is a machine - right now everyone else is playing for second place. Given the circumstances of this year I guess I can live with cheering for the best team in college football not named Alabama. Ohio State is going to have a lot of new faces on the field next year, in some cases I consider that a good thing. I just hope we can attend the games, have our mancave parties and practice some anti-social distancing. Next season kicks off on September 3 in Minneapolis for the Buckeyes - I can't wait!

Thanks doc.
I have to say I admire tOSU for leading the B1G into the season. I don’t think the season would have been nearly as meaningful without OSU pushing the B1G where they didn’t seem to want to go.
I watched the Buckeyes after the game as they went out to the center of the field and mingled with the Alabama players. Clearly, the program has taught a group of young men to respond to adversity with class.(not every bowl team was able to exhibit such class) I admire that a great deal.
Thanks again doc and Roll Tide.

As I reflect back it's a miracle they got as far as they did. I don't know how Alabama avoided a severe COVID outbreak but after OSU's third game it became a daily grind just to see who was going to get it next. That had to mentally drain the team, for sure. I saw an interview with Chris Olave where he said he was quarantined for 2 weeks in a hotel, couldn't go outside or see anyone. Had to do workouts in his room. When you consider nearly 25% of the team had to go through that protocol I cant imagine how difficult that must have been. Add on the emotional win over Clemson and I think it was asking a bit too much to expect the team to rise to that level again against Alabama. Of course, Alabama had a lot to do with that. I think Ryan Day put it best and I'm summarizing - it's been a huge grind, the players made huge sacrifices to play this year and they need a break from football.
I'd also like to say how impressed I was with the demeanor of the Bama players. They act like they've been there before, which they have. Najee Harris was asked how he was able to hit holes so effortlessly and his response was priceless - he said Ohio State was blowing his ass up, it wasn't effortless - he was hurting! You have to appreciate honesty!

But someone mentioned that all of Bama's players are 15-30lbs heavier than they need to be (or probably more correctly, heavier than their counterparts on other teams). S&C always plays a big part of a game, and Bama does an excellent job at S&C. Their WRs get separation, even in press man coverage....they are able to establish and hold blocks on the perimeter. D lines use brute force and technique to break away from OLs. They do all of this without sacrificing speed or mobility.

Hmnn… what a concept. Other than that, what have they got? I think I'll send a letter suggesting this to the new Texas coaches!
