They were clearly the better team last night. Devonta Smith was much much better than I thought he was and Kerry Combs defense simply did not have an answer. I like Kerry Combs in terms of being a motivator and recruiter but he needs to go in terms of being a DC. He simply could not adjust and made it way way to easy for him.
Missing 2 starting defensive linemen was a big blow. The reason tOSU had success with Clemson was their ability to put pressure on Lawrence. Mac Jones simply had no pressure on him the entire game. That being said there is no guarantee that even at full strength we could have gotten to him but I would have liked to have seen it. Also did not help having Sermon knocked out of the game on the first play. There is a big drop off from Sermon to Teague. Teague simply does not see the holes like Sermon does. Even at full strength I still think the Buckeyes would have a hard time but I would have liked to see.
Definitely a rollercoaster ride this season. First the Big 10 cancels the season with no chance of revisiting the decision. Then they have the season. Once we get into the season the Buckeyes had 3 of their final 6 games and not knowing if they would get in the BIG CCG. Then the debate of getting in the playoffs. We got to exercise the Clemson demon and get our shot at Alabama. No doubt Bama is number 1 but the way this season went I am perfectly fine with number 2.

You Buckeye dudes are class acts... All of you. Not ALL OSU fans, mind you....but, most. And, certainly the ones on this board. Congrats on being #2. That ain't TOO shabby!

The Buckeyes had bad luck going into the game with key players out for the game
....and then Sermon went out after the first drive. I don't know if Ohio State wins if Sermon is in there, but I think he would have helped establish drives. With him out, it was all on Fields

Now I’m gonna try and talk myself into believing the Brownies can beat the Chiefs on Sunday. in all honesty if they push them for 3 quarters and make Kansas City sweat a little I’ll be happy

I came away from this game with a great deal of admiration for the OSU program. I watched the reaction of the players after the game. The OSU Players gathered in the middle of the field with the Alabama Players in a great display of sportsmanship. Not all schools were able to display such class this bowl season and I truly admire the job being done by tOSU in building not just a good football program but more importantly the building of good men. I tip my hat to the Buckeyes.

One thing that this season made us realize is that there are much bigger things in life than just the game itself.
Not that I think it would have affected the outcome but I still would have like to see how this game panned out had we been at full strength on the DL and if Sermon was healthy for the whole game.
Could Ohio State put pressure on Mac Jones? If so would it affect his accuracy? Would Trey Sermon be able to find holes? Would this open up the passing attack?
I don't recall Fields going deep the entire game. Did Bama just take that away? Are Bama's corners that good? I would say yes! One thing we do know is that when Bama lost Smith it did not slow down there offense at all. I also think our LB's were clearly out matched.
In the end I think Ohio State will benefit significantly from this one as it showed them what it will take to win it all.

Maybe Notre Dame didn't suck as bad as everyone was saying....held Alabama to season low 31 points and also left 10 points off the board with a missed FG and touchdown called back....all against Bama's all-time best offense
Ohio State got carved up pretty good, and had no answer for #6

Devonta Smith was hands down the best receiver that I have seen Ohio State go up against ever. He seemed way way faster than our DB's.
If Notre Dame did not get slammed by Clemson the week before I might agree with you. They did beat Clemson earlier in the year but Clemson was short handed. Going undefeated in the ACC doesn't seem like that great of an accomplishment when you look at how that conference performed in the Bowl Season.
