Just got off the phone with Finebaum who was discussing Saban vs Bryant as the GOAT ( neither is anywhere near the GOAT) I explained to him that just within the SEC alone the greatness ranking would be :
1) Bob Neyland 2) Nick Saban 3) Bear Bryant
Based on : Career WP : Neyland (.829), Saban .(791), Bryant (.780) SEC WP : Neyland (.827), Saban (.820), Bryant (.764) Career N/C WP : Neyland (.831), Saban (.819), Bryant (.797)
Plus, Bear Bryant was 0-7 vs Neyland, head- to- head inspiring him to Say : " Everyone thought Neyland had a jinx on us. It was no jinx. He was a better coach....People think I'm the greatest damn coach in the world but Neyland taught me everything I know"
...and among all CF coaches , all time, all levels based on winning %
Neyland -21st most difficult to beat Saban - 47th most difficult to beat Bryant - 56th most difficult to beat
Finebaum thanked me and said "now you're talking" then added some Neyland superlatives of his own.

Ah... Neyland, a fine Texas man.
Of course, his teams were on 0.500 two years in a row in 1947 and 1948. The Longhorns would have fired him. lol
Saban has now won 7 National Championships. Neyland won 4.
yes...Clearly, Saban doesn't even deserve to be in the discussion. /sarc

Zero NCAA D1 national championships among all three. The true GOAT has won 11 of 'em
