The Oklahoma President wants to see the Big 12 expand, add a CCG, and roll the Longhorn Network into a Big 12 Network, or else... m.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/johnehoover/john-e-hoover-david-boren-tired-of-big-s-little/article_cd7816c7-5571-5ebe-9392-3911e9337f83.html?mode=jqmHe also addressed the question of what was a better long-term scenario for OU: staying in the Big 12 or moving to another conference.
“I think if — if — we can get the Big 12 on the right track, if this comprehensive plan could be adopted, then I would rather stay in the Big 12,” he said. “I think that would be to our advantage. But it’s something that we really need to have happen. But we just need to wait and see what develops. Certainly, my first choice, if we can get the right things done in the Big 12, the right steps taken, especially these three, then I think we ought to stay in the Big 12. If it just doesn’t happen, then I try to think long-term.”

Lol. Yea, That's right approach to getting Texans to agree on something; in a year where your team just got voted into the CFP, start making ultimatums in public.
What an idiot.

Oklahoma got moved down the the #4 slot by the committee. They were clearly sending the Big 12 a message that had either Stanford or Notre Dame not had that extra late season loss, the Big 12 would have been the odd man our again.

I thought Stanfords losses were earlier ? Either way, OU made it. No CCG is required, just a clear champion.

A one loss PAC 12 Champ Stanford at 12-1 would definitely have gotten in over 11-1 Oklahoma. But I don't think it's clear that an 11-1 Notre Dame would have been in over an 11-1 Oklahoma. Would have been a fun debate though and put more pressure on the Big 12 to add a CCG and perhaps more pressure on ND to at least rethink their Independent status.

Speculation amongst Sooner fans is that he's laying the groundwork for OU to bolt at the earliest opportunity. Argue for a plan that you know the rest of the conference won't agree to, and then you can say "well, we tried".

Big Ten investigated bringing Oklahoma in, but if OK state would have to be brought in as well....I don't think they'd be interested. Ideally Big would like to grab OU and Kansas

Oklahoma State might be able to get a landing spot in the SEC. If that's the case, OU would be free to leave.

Was Oklahoma even one of the top 8 teams at the end of the season? Yes. They were #4 Oklahoma was not ranked in the top-4 in either of the final major polls. At the end of the season, I doubt if Oklahoma was one of the best 8 teams. The CFP selection committee was charged with selecting the best 4 teams, yet the CFP protocols made it nearly impossible to do so.
