Merry Christmas everyone. One family tradition is gumbo on Christmas Eve so I smoked chicken and sausage, the gumbo is cooking now. We will be heading to my daughter's house for gumbo tonight. I hope Santa is good to you all.

Gumbo…. Mmmmm.
I need to convince Mama to start that tradition here! We were there long enough for her to learn how. With smoked meat, it must be exceptional!
We’ll have the whole family at our house most of the day. We all go to the 3 pm Christmas Eve service. I stay to sing in the choir at the 5 pm service. Then we have dinner and exchange presents. In the past couple of years, we’ve watched Elf. That’ll probably happen again this year. 🤗
We just returned from 3 nights in NYC. We saw the bridge in Central Park where the snowball fight scene was filmed.
It’s been a very blessed year for us. A few good friends were lost, but new lives have also joined. All in all, another good year.
I hope everyone here is able to find some joy among family and friends.

Merry Christmas to all of you as well. Have my son back in town with my daughter and her new boyfriend. Nothing beats family! Went to my parents who are 91 and 87 for Christmas Day. My dad had a great day. At the end of the day he seemed like he almost was saying goodbye until the next life when I left. Hope it is not the case but Christmas was a great day.

My oldest, dearest friend was in a very bad way on Christmas Day. He had to go into a hospital in Austin on Friday, with a VERY painful gall bladder situation. Because of the holidays, they were unable to schedule a surgery to remove it until yesterday morning. After the surgery, he didn't recover from anesthesia. He couldn't breathe on his own last night. They had him sedated, on a ventilator all night. I was so worried, all night.
This morning, they were able to ween him off the ventilator today.... slowly. He's doing much better today, but... is expected to be hospitalized all week. \
One day, you're fine. The next day, you could be fighting for your life. This consciousness thing is fleeting. Make the most of it.

Seasons Greetings to all!
I found myself in the hospital on December 23 and was released to go home Christmas Eve. I'm having urinary issues they're trying to figure out - not much fun to be sure but I think we have a plan that might take through January to play itself out - fun times for Doc! It was great to be home for Christmas and the entire family was over, which was a beautiful way to celebrate the holiday. We have 3 grandsons (ages 2 years/8 months, 9 months and 8 months) you shouldn't be able to love anything as much as I love those little boys.
It's been a difficult holiday. My sister passed away suddenly and quite unexpectedly on Dec. 15 - she was only 55 years old, she went into cardiac arrest and they couldn't revive her. Our daughter announced she's accepted a job in Singapore so she'll be moving on January 15 for 2 years. I'm going to miss her dearly. And, as I mentioned, I've been dealing with this bladder issue so I've been in a pretty sad mood. Thankfully when I'm around the little guys they brighten my day.
Wishing you all a safe and blessed 2024 - stay safe and give all your loved ones a big hug - nothing lifts the spirit more than a loved one's hug.

That is a sad way to head into the holidays. "Sudden Death" is a real thing these days. Don't ask why, you could get banned from social media. We had our 2-month-old granddaughter watching her two older sisters during all our Christmas Eve festivities. She slept as much as she watched. But we still LOVE her... just the same. It is scary how much you can love someone that small... and, how much they make you WANT to stick around longer.
