but it pales in comparison to the 'Wilhelm Gustloff' 1500 lives lost on the Titanic,on Jan.30 1945 the German ship was carring 10,614 passengers fleeing the oncoming Russian soldiers heading for safe harbor,a Russian Sub put 3 torpedos in her she went down in 15 minutes taking 9618 lives,only996 survived,among thje dead were app. 5,000 children,a new book tells the story it's called "Salt of the sea" I can't wait to read it,this disaster is little known by most people.
